HELP US WELCOME OUR NEW COMMUNITY PREVENTION AND WELLNESS COORDINATOR!
My name is Vitali Turlac and I'm a new member of the Washougal team. I am excited with the opportunity to be working in the Washougal community. I love working with youth and people from different backgrounds and ethnicities. I was born and raised in Eastern Europe and I speak more than five languages.
I strongly believe that we should invest our lives into younger generations by helping them develop healthy habits, self-sufficiency practices that lead success. I am a husband and a father of two beautiful girls and my life is pretty much pink.
My favorite quote goes: “God gave you this life because He knew you were strong
enough to live it”
WELCOME VITALI!

Positive Community Norms in Washougal
Check out the video below to get a glimpse into the framework that Unite! Washougal Community Coaltion is using to bring great things to our amazing community.
What is the Science of the Positive?
The Science of the Positive is the study of how positive factors impact culture and experience. It focuses on how to measure and grow the positive, and has been applied over decades with agencies, communities, and businesses. It is based on the core assumption that the positive is real and is worth growing – in ourselves, our families, our workplaces, and our communities (Linkenbach, 2007).
Those of us who work as health and safety professionals can sometimes become so focused on the dangers and problems we are trying to decrease that we forget this core truth. The Science of the Positive reverses this problem-centered frame, and focuses on growing the healthy, positive, protective factors that already exist in our communities. When we start to look at the world through this positive, hopeful lens, it has a profound on impact the questions we ask, the data we collect, and the way we address health and safety issues.
The Science of the Positive should not be confused with simple “positive thinking.” It is a rigorous process that works across entire cultures. And while the Science of the Positive is based on the core assumption that the positive exists in every community and culture, it recognizes that suffering, pain, and harm are very real. One of its principal outcomes is to reduce suffering in our families, our communities, and ourselves.

Help Fund Adult Meals in our Community
Why Donate?
Unite! Washougal is very concerned about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the effects this situation has placed on our friends and family. The Washougal School District (WSD) receives funding to provide free grab and go meals for all children 18 years and younger, but those funds do not cover adult meals. Currently, WSD is providing adult meals with donated funds but those funds are running low. We are partnering with the Washougal School District to help collect monetary donations that will be used to continue to provide grab and go meals for the adult members of our community to continue to provide meals to the whole family.
All donations are tax deductible as Unite! Washougal is a 501(c)(3) non-profit/charitable organization dedicated to the Washougal Community.
Thank you for helping feed families in need.
