LMS Friends,
We have had an excellent two weeks!
With the dropping temperatures, we wanted to remind you of ensuring your children come to school prepared for the cold. We do go outside with temperatures as low as 10 degrees. Although we haven't hit this temperature yet, we know it is coming!
Next week, we will be welcoming our first little break of the year. We wish you and yours a wonderful and restful break. We have been thankful for the consistency that this year has brought. School will be closed the 24th through the 26th. We will see students back on the 29th!
The Student Council organized a fantastic fall themed door contest. Advisories have been hard at work decorating this week and we included lots of photos! Results will be announced next week, but Scoop readers will have to wait until the next Scoop on the 3rd of December.
Enjoy this week's news!
Regards,
John P. D'Entremont, Principal

Birch and Oak 8th Graders with World Story Exchange
8th grade students have been working in Language Arts to create documentary films based on LMS core values with Mr. Armstrong and Mrs. Rooney. This picture shows 8th graders and their families gathering for an evening premier of their films, cheering each other on and enjoying each student’s creativity.
We have attached links below for students and families to see the work that students created in partnership with World Story Exchange.
Teachers Learning Too @ #AMLE21
From an LMS Staff Member who attended:
Connecting with other middle level educators is always worthwhile. It is helpful to share common experiences, learn from one another, and see other perspectives on the challenges we face. This year's AMLE conference was virtual once again. While this format did change the event, it allowed us to participate in the conference without being away from our classrooms. It also gave us access to recorded workshops that we can view over time. Presenters from across the country shared best practices in middle level education, approaches for social emotional learning, pandemic related challenges and solutions, and much more. The highlight of the conference for me was attending Jack Berckemeyer's "Taming the Team: 15 Strategies for Effective Teaming" workshop. It confirmed that we have effective teaming in place at LMS while providing ideas for ways we can still grow and improve. Another excellent session was "Designing Differentiated Instruction: Show Me What It Looks Like" by Rick Wormeli. After a year of being mostly reactive to the circumstances, it is encouraging to be in a proactive growth mindset again. I am grateful to LMS and SAU 88 for supporting this professional development opportunity.

Latest Update by Nancy Pageau
Hello LMS Families,
Covid vaccine clinics for 5-11 year olds are in full swing with many students receiving their first covid dose last Saturday at LHS, DHMC or APD. I encourage all eligible students to get the vaccine as it becomes available to them. It’s one more measure to help slow the upward trend of positive covid cases we are seeing in our community in recent weeks. If you choose to share the dates that your child receives the covid vaccines, I will add them to their immunization health records here at school.
Please continue to monitor your children daily for any covid symptoms, keep them home when ill and have them tested before sending them back to school.
I recently completed the Annual NH Immunization Report that is done by school nurses every November. This year we have 70 LMS families who have not provided an up to date immunization record to the nurse. If your child has had any recent immunizations, please provide that record to me. If they are due for any immunizations (I am missing mostly the 7th grade Tdap vaccines) please arrange for an appointment to receive that vaccine as soon as possible. Although we have been focused on the covid vaccines, all required childhood vaccines need to be up to date. I know many families are behind with their annual visits, and I ask that you check to see if your child is due for his/her physical and any vaccines. Thank you.
Colder weather is here, your children need to be prepared to be outdoors for recess, PE and fire drills. Please make sure they are dressed appropriately for the weather. Reach out if you need assistance with cold weather clothing/gear.
Wishing you and yours a very happy and safe Thanksgiving,
Nancy Pageau

Voluntary Pool Testing Update
Voluntary Pool Testing Signing-Up
To sign up your child, 17 years old or younger, for voluntary COVID testing, please use this link.
For staff and students who are 18 years or older please use this link to sign up for voluntary testing.
When prompted please use the following access codes:
- Lebanon Middle School: 81ZM9C
What will happen if a pool comes back positive?
We will follow this process for unconfirmed or confirmed positive cases:
If by chance a pool comes back positive, we will notify the staff and the families of those students in the pool that there is an unconfirmed positive case.
Students/staff in the pool will be asked to monitor for symptoms and will be tested two days later.
After the follow-up testing, those in the pool will be notified of either the negative or positive result.
The person who tested positive will be asked to isolate and close contacts will be notified per the procedures we have been following since the start of the pandemic. The Superintendent will also inform the larger community of the positive test result.

PROACTIVE APPROACH for kids
Did you know that children who can control their impulses, tend to have better critical thinking skills to solve problems? Since returning from the pandemic there appears to have been a shift for some of our student’s ability to focus.
Sesame Street is redefining their focus (and has been for a while) to help our younger population and we will also use it with our students. Check it out:
‘Cookie Monster spoofs Icona Pop's hit song "I Love It" in this hilarious new video! Cookie Monster, the poster-child for someone needing to master self-regulation skills, attempts to explain these concepts while devising personal strategies on waiting to eat a cookie.’
