Kids (and parents) may appreciate knowing in advance that there will be a few changes to school arrival this year. School drop-off will be from 7:45 - 8:00. Upon arrival, kids can choose to either play on the playground, or go to the cafeteria and have breakfast. Students who enjoy playing outside to start their day may want to wear boots to avoid wet shoes.

• Fall Open House will be on Thursday, September 28th from 5 - 6 PM. All families are encouraged to come see your child's classroom, meet their teachers, and hear all about their days at school!
• Bridges Afterschool Program will begin on Tuesday, September 5th. Contact Casey Searles with any questions at caseysearles@mpsvt.org.
• Our first early release day of the year will be Monday, September 25th.

Some 3rd and 4th grade students were fantastic role models at our first all-school assembly. They demonstrated many of our school expectations, and staff looks forward to recognizing and celebrating all students as they work to make RVS a positive, fun place to learn and grow.

For families who are not familiar, PBIS is "Positive Behavior Intervention Systems": a structure many VT schools follow to explicitly teach and model school expectations, and then recognize students who are successful or who show effort and growth toward these goals. The Meeting Schedule for the 2023-2024 School Year is now available.

WIN time, or "what I need", will officially launch in a few weeks to support students exactly where they need some additional support or extension in academic subjects. While we are busy assessing all students, teachers have planned some wonderful groups meant to build community and encourage friendships. Kindergarten and fourth grade students have had buddy reading time, first and second graders have played outdoor games and worked in the garden, and our third graders are learning to navigate Google Drive and master their keyboarding skills!
