The SHARK Alert

Dear Friends & Families of CES,

The month of March is jam-packed with activities for the whole family. Please take some time to read through the SHARK Alert and take note of all the events. We hope you will join us on Thursday, March 20th for our first-ever Author's Night. Each classroom will have a table of student writing on display to celebrate our love of reading and writing. At the same time, we will be running extended hours at the Scholastic Book Fair. In addition to the books available during the school day sale, there will be a collection of educational toys and other materials for sale.

Kindergarten registration is now open for the 2025-2026 school year. Children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2025 to enroll in Kindergarten. More details about how to register are below. We cannot wait to welcome our newest SHARKS to CES!!

CES is excited to announce that Children's Author, Melissa Stewart, will be visiting our school on Monday, April 7th as part of our Read Across America celebration. Ms. Stewart has written a number of high-interest and critically-acclaimed non-fiction picture books. During her visit she will be debuting her most recent title, MEET THE MINI-MAMMALS.

Students can pre-order signed copies of her books. Books will be distributed on April 7th. Orders are due by March 17th.

Hard copies will be sent home via back pack mail or you can download and print the Book Order Form HERE.

Round I of the CES March Madness contests is quickly coming to a close. Only a few more matchups until we enter the Great Eight. This week's match up is THE PROUDEST BLUE and SATURDAY FOOD PANTRY. Students will vote on their favorite during their Media Class. In the meantime, if you would like to watch and listen to these beautiful stories, please check out the CES Read Across America Playlist on our school's YouTube account. New videos are added each week during the competition.

The PTO meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Media Center. Parents that would like to attend from home can connect via the Zoom Meeting Link provided below. There are lots of activities coming soon and all sorts of help is needed.
