Sagebrush PTCO Updates August 27, 2025
Dear Sagebrush Families,
Thanks for checking out our second PTCO newsletter for this year. We on the PTCO board intend to make this a meaningful place to get important information about things happening at our school. So above all else, if you find that this isn’t living up to that expectation, please let us know how we can make it better.
On that note, we are only merely parents of students at our school. And we have a similar goal in common. That is to help our kids have the best experience possible while attending Sagebrush. I firmly believe that everyone has something positive to contribute to this process. I also know that we all have very busy schedules, and it makes it hard to know when and how much you may be able to help. Any amount of time is valued to both the PTCO board and to the administration of the school. If all you could do is a few minutes in suggesting something that could be done better all the way to serving on our PTCO board. And anything in between. The quality that we serve our children is directly correlated with parent participation, we do better as a community than as individuals. If you have any questions, please reach out to us or the school and someone will be happy to give you guidance on any ideas that you have.
We had a great bingo night last Friday. This is only our second one that we have done, the first being late last year. And we are certainly getting better at it each time. It looked like the kids had a lot of fun both keeping track of the numbers being called and dobbing the paper on the tables.
Our next fundraiser is starting next week which we have been doing for many years, the “Run 4 Funds.” This has been our keystone fundraiser, and it helps fund all the field trips that the students from all grades go on each year. And because of the generous support of the parents, no individual child must pay for going on a field trip. Which means that no one is left behind. From the board meeting, it became clear that the email initially sent out might not have been as clear as we would have hoped. Mainly that buying a shirt is not for your child, those will be provided on the run day. The option of buying a shirt is for you, the parent, so that you can also have a shirt for run day to help support your child and the school.
Thanks for your support and I look forward to seeing many of you at pickups, drop offs, and at school events.
Warmly,
Sam Grondorf Co-President

Board Member Spotlight
Highlighting the amazing volunteers who make our PTCO great!
Name: Jess Roeckel
Position: Co-Secretary
Years on the Board: 2
Children’s Grade(s): 2nd & 3rd Grade
💬 Why I Joined the PTCO? I wanted to better understand what was happening in the school on a daily basis and meet the other members of the PTCO. After my first meeting I kept coming back and eventually joined the board because I realized how important the PTCO is to the school and I wanted to be a part of both the fundraising efforts and deciding how the money is spent.
✨ My Favorite Part of Serving on the Board
I always enjoy the principals report. Hearing the latest updates from Mr. Powell has given me so much more insight to the school. I also deeply value the connections and relationships I’ve made with the other parents and staff members. Being on the PTCO has made the school feel like a community for me and my family.
What is a favorite memory or highlight from your time volunteering?

🌟 Looking Ahead
What are you most excited about this school year?
I’m looking forward to seeing how the PTCO can continue to improve on our fundraising ideas.
Goals, ideas, or events you’d like to bring to PTCO:
A big goal of ours last year was to start bingo night and we were able to run it one time at the end of last school year. I’m hoping we can run more this year and increase attendance!
What would you say to families to encourage more involvement?
The PTCO is critical to the school. This organization has provided the funding for field trips, art supplies, kindergarten chairs, drama club performances, etc. It impacts EVERY student. The organization cannot exist without parent volunteers. Being a part of the PTCO in any way is such a rewarding experience as it allows you to know what’s happening in your kids school and gives you the opportunity to have influence over what happens inside its walls. The school and thereby the students depend on this organization. Anything you can do to participate in the PTCO is very much appreciated and valued. You don’t have to join the board to make a difference.
