Heroes' Day Walk at Settlers Way Elementary
Heroes' Day Walk at Settlers Way Elementary
Please sign up if you are a first responder (Firefighter, Police Officer, EMS, Doctor, Nurse) and are willing to be honored at SWE on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 8:15 a.m.
This is not an open assembly, but an opportunity for us to have first responders walk through the halls while our students recognize and honor them.
Please feel free to share this invitation with any First Responders you know.
This assembly is not open to all to attend, just to those first responders who would like to be recognized.
Please click on the link below to be directed to the RSVP page. Click on the link and complete the questionnaire. It will then prompt you to put in the name of the first responder who will attend.
2026 Heroes' Day Walk at Settlers Way Elementary – Fill out form
We would also like to honor any first responders who may not be able to attend the Heroes’ walk, in a video presentation for the students. If you have someone in your family that is a first responder, we would love for you to email a picture of them and a brief paragraph about them to Amanda.faulkner@fortbendisd.gov. The deadline for submission is Friday, September 4th but I would love to get them as soon as possible. Thanks so much and have a wonderful day!
First Responders risk their own lives to save others. They could have chosen any other profession but chose to serve their communities and keep people safe from harm.
On Friday, September 11th, 2026, we will have you walk through the grade level hallways, and you will be celebrated by our students, teachers, and staff. We appreciate all that you do and hope you will join us!
"A hero is an ordinary person who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles". - Christopher Reeve
Date: 09/11/2026 (Friday)
Time: 8:15am - 8:45 am CDT
Location: Settlers Way Elementary
Don't Forget!
This year, we strongly encourage all students arrive by 7:50 a.m., as announcements will begin promptly at 7:55 a.m. Instruction will then begin at 8:05 a.m. If your child is arriving at 8:05 a.m., they could potentially miss out on valuable learning opportunities. Please plan accordingly and ensure your child/children arrive by 7:50 a.m. each day.

Application for free and reduced meals for the 2026-27 -Please apply!!
Application here
Why It Matters
Completing a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application can make a significant difference for both your child and our school community.
By applying, eligible families may:
- Receive free or reduced-price meal benefits for their student(s)
- Help our school qualify for important funding and resources
- Potentially gain access to additional benefits, such as reduced fees for testing, programs, or activities
Even if your child does not participate in the school meal program, completing the application is still important. The information collected helps ensure our school has accurate data about the students we serve. This data impacts state reporting accountability measures and eligibility for programs designed to support student success.
When eligible families complete the application, our school is better positioned to receive resources that directly benefit students and provide a more accurate picture of our community's needs. If applications are not submitted, our school may not receive full consideration for funding and support programs available to our students.
If you are unsure whether your family qualifies, we strongly encourage you to apply. Many families are eligible and may not realize it. One application can make a big difference by supporting student well-being, strengthening school resources, and creating additional opportunities for our students.
We will have computer stations in our library on Parent Information Night, Wed., Sep. 9th to assist those who want to apply. If you have any questions or need assistance completing the application, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Dr. Kellie Issac

SWE PTA Grade-Level Membership Challenge
The Race to Silly String Is On!
5th grade has the lead with 20 — but 1st and 4th are tied for second at 16! There’s still plenty of time for every grade to catch up before the September 30 finish.
The grade with the most qualifying PTA family memberships at the end of the challenge wins the Silly String Contest!
A single family membership counts for each SWE student in your household, so if you haven’t joined yet, now is the time to help your child’s grade soar.
