Welcome to Week 5, Westwood Families! 馃惉
Dear Westwood Families,
As we enter our fifth week of school, I want to thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are settling into our routines and are excited for another great week of learning!
Please Complete Your Online Data Confirmation!
If you have not yet completed your Online Data Confirmation, please take a few minutes to do so as soon as possible. This information is extremely important to our school. The information families provide helps ensure that Westwood receives the funding we qualify for as a Title I school.
Without complete and accurate information from our families, we could potentially lose funding that supports important programs and resources for our students. These funds help support programs such as our Bridge Program, student clubs, and materials and resources that promote student achievement.
Please help us continue providing these valuable opportunities for our Dolphins by completing your Online Data Confirmation today. We truly appreciate your support! If you need support please come by the office! We will help you complete this important information.
Our First ELAC Meeting Is This Thursday!
We are also excited to invite families to our first English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting this Thursday!
We encourage all parents and guardians of students who are learning English as an additional language to attend. ELAC is an important opportunity for families to learn more about the resources, programs, and plans in place to support our multilingual learners. Your voice and input are an important part of helping us ensure that we are meeting the needs of all our students.
We hope you will join us and become an active part of the conversation!
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can continue creating opportunities for every Westwood student to learn, grow, and succeed!
Go Dolphins! 馃挋馃惉

Lunch with a Loved One
Wednesday 9/9
Lunch with a Loved One 馃挋
Lunch with a Loved One is a special event where we invite parents and loved ones to come to school, bring lunch, and enjoy a meal with their student.
Because this event will take place at the end of the school day, all parents and loved ones must check in through the office. Students who are having lunch with their loved one will be dismissed with them at the conclusion of the event.
If you are unable to attend, please don鈥檛 worry! Our amazing cafeteria will be providing a special lunch for all students that day.
We are excited to bring this new tradition to Westwood as a way to encourage family involvement and create a special experience for our students. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 9! More details and information about check-in and lunch procedures will be shared in the coming weeks.
We look forward to seeing our Westwood families there! 馃惉馃挋
Online Data Confirmation
Families, please take a few minutes to complete Online Data Confirmation (ODC). Completing ODC ensures that your child鈥檚 school has current contact information and all required annual forms for the school year. To complete ODC: If you need clarity on the above steps, or would like to see screenshots, please view this document or call our school's office. Every completed confirmation helps our school stay connected with families and better equips us to support students. Thank you for partnering with us and helping us start the year strong!
A gentle reminder that we need your help. A large chunk of our funding comes from our online data confirmation. We are handing out prizes to students that complete it along with a pizza party for the first classes to reach 100% in both primary and intermediate.
Pick Up/Drop Off - Friday was much improved!
Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
Please work with us to Board Policy states that a student is allowed 14 illness days for the school year. After this time a medical note is required or the absence is NOT excused.
Examples of unexcused absences include missing school due to:
- Going out of town or on vacation
- Attending weddings
- Oversleeping
- A parent/guardian/sibling having an appointment
- Not having a babysitter
- Attending a graduation
Guardians have 10 days to clear an absence before it is considered unexcused regardless of reason. After 10 days, the absence cannot be changed.
If a child is on an intra-district transfer from another school, regular attendance is mandatory and required to approve the intra-district agreement.
