A Message from the Principal
Dear Beville Families,
You will definitely want to make sure you scroll through the whole newsletter this week, as we have a lot of great stuff happening at Beville! Check out our multiple fundraisers going on, ways to get involved in teacher appreciation, a big sale on spirit wear and of course some shout outs to celebrate!
This week, we are proud to celebrate exciting news for our Beville Middle School community. The Virginia Department of Education recently released the 2025-2026 School Performance results, and Beville successfully met the state's standards. This achievement reflects a comprehensive measure of school success, including academic performance, student growth, attendance, advanced coursework, and outcomes for all students and student groups.
This accomplishment is the result of a true team effort. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated staff whose determination, collaboration, and unwavering belief in our students drive continuous growth and achievement each day. We are equally thankful to our families for their partnership, support, and commitment to their children's success. Most importantly, we celebrate our students. Their hard work, perseverance, and growth made this achievement possible.
Meeting state expectations is not the result of one individual or one program. It reflects the collective effort of an entire school community working together toward a shared goal. We are proud of what we have accomplished and remain committed to building on this success as we continue to support every student in reaching their full potential.
Thank you for being a part of the Beville family and for helping us make a difference every day.
πΎ Go Bobcats!
Warm regards,
The Administrative Team
Dr. Thomas, Mrs. Haskins, Ms. Kegley, Mrs. Perry, Ms. Hadden and Mrs. Mckinney

School Policies
Early Dismissal Pick-Up Reminder
To help ensure a safe and orderly dismissal process, please be reminded that, in accordance with school and PWCS procedures, students who need to be picked up early must be signed out before 2:30 p.m.
Early dismissals will not be permitted after 2:30 p.m. After that time, families will need to wait until the regular dismissal at 2:55 p.m. to pick up their student.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to maintain a safe and efficient dismissal for all students. Thank you for planning appointments and early pick-ups accordingly.
Attendance β
September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Regular attendance helps students stay connected to learning and to their school community. Families can help by planning ahead and understanding attendance expectations.
Check Your Studentβs Attendance
Families can use ParentVUE to review attendance throughout the school year. Checking regularly helps you stay informed and address concerns early.
Know When Students Have School Days Off
Planning ahead can help protect valuable learning time. When possible, consider scheduling appointments, trips, and other activities for days when students are already off from school. Please view the 2026-27 school calendar to plan ahead.
Know the Difference Between Excused and Unexcused Absences
Sometimes students need to miss school. Understanding what makes an absence excused or unexcused can help families know what to do when an absence occurs. For additional information, visit PWCS attendance guidelines.
π₯ Watch this video to see examples of excused and unexcused absences.
Key Takeaways for Parents
- Every day of instruction matters.
- Excused absences are allowed for valid reasons but still result in missed learning.
- Unexcused absences can lead to truancy interventions.
- Parents should report absences and provide documentation within five school days.
- All absences (excused, unexcused, and suspensions) count toward chronic absenteeism.
- Missing 10% of the school year (approximately 18 days) is considered chronic absenteeism by VDOE.
- Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success.
Our goal is to work in partnership with families to ensure that every student is present, engaged, and successful. When attendance challenges arise, please contact the school early so that we can help connect you with available supports and resources.
How Can Families Help?
Families play a critical role in supporting student attendance.
You can help by:
β Scheduling appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
β Planning family trips during holidays and breaks.
β Communicating with the school promptly when your child is absent.
β Providing documentation when requested.
β Monitoring attendance through ParentVUE.
β Reaching out to the school if attendance challenges arise so supports can be put in place.
