Arcola in the News Arcola in the News

Last month our fourth graders were visited by Ranger Jen to teach about the National Park Service and give them free passes to visit national parks. Then local business, Kind Cotton, hosted a free book fair so every student in the school took home a free book to encourage a love of reading. Our September parent coffee had over 60 caregivers learn about school improvement as well as a visit from Scouting America. Our weekly farmers market from Community Farm Share continues to nourish our families with fresh fruits and vegetables every Friday from 4:30-6:00 pm. Finally, our Level 2 English classes started. We had a full house of parents ready to grow their capacity!

Meet Mrs. Heather Hunter

Community School Liaison

I am excited to work with you and your family as the new Community School Liaison (CSL) at Arcola Elementary. Prior to coming to Arcola, I taught STEM and technology. I also taught 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades. My role as CSL is to serve as a bridge between our school, the community, and your family. I value building relationships and supporting the needs of our school community and look forward to utilizing partnerships to provide comprehensive services and resources (ex: food, clothing, adult English classes, etc.). Please let me know how I can assist you and your family.
