6th Grade News
From the desk of Mrs. J. Peters, Assistant Principal
Week of September 4th -
It's week #3 and we are moving in the right direction. Students have found their way to class, and getting to class on time, and know which supplies they need for each class. Some are still struggling with their combination lock, so please encourage them to practice the combination. Students are welcome to bring their lock home to practice, just make sure that the lock is returned for their locker the following day.
We have had some nice days and more nice days in the weather forecast for next week. Students may have the opportunity to eat outside at our new picnic tables. This is a nice change from the cafeteria setting, as students can go out and enjoy the sunshine in the courtyard and eat their lunches.
Please talk with your child regarding their assignments in powerschool and on their google classroom. If you are unsure what that looks like, take the time to sit down with your child and they will be able to explain it to you. These computer based documents are where all the assignments are held as well as documentation of the grades that have been earned. Take a look. You can keep up very easily just by taking a peak once in awhile to see how your child is doing. This is the best place to look to see what assignments may be missing.
Thank you for your partnership in your child's education. We are here to work as a team so your child can be successful at school. Enjoy the week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. J. Peters
Assistant Principal - Grade 6

Arrival at SMS - Please read if you drive your child to school each day.
Please make sure that if you are dropping your child off at Door Q and/or Door R in the morning- that you arrive prior to 7:55am. Our doors will be locked at this time. If you happen to arrive after this time, please circle around the building to the main entrance and have your child report to the main office for a pass to class.
We need to make sure that your child is in attendance on time. If your child enters the building after 7:55am, he/she is late and has already been marked absent. In order to correct that, students must report to the main office and check in.
We have posted a sign at Door Q as a reminder. If the door is not open, please have your child enter through the main entrance at the front of the building instead.
Thank you Everyone for keeping our students safe at SMS.
