Teacher Meeting Thursday in Auditorium
Family Meeting - Be Who We Want to Be
Since we only get one faculty meeting per month with all of us in the room, we will spend some time talking about who we want to be. This week, our focus is on intentionally building relationships that promote our school's core values.
Build Trust with Parents
- Communicate ahead of time
- Make it clear we're on the same team
- In challenging moments, take a listening posture
Meet Students' Needs
- In challenging moments, talk to them like you would want a loved one spoken to
- Dealing with threats to others or self (desire? plans? means?)
- Anxiety - 3,2,1 method (happy, thankful, serve)
Romans 12:9-10
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Big Upcoming Events
Teacher Convention | September 23-25
Make sure you have downloaded the Whova app and are registering for the sessions you plan to attend. Please let Mrs. Lopez know if your transportation needs have changed. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon regarding when and where to pick up your convention registration materials and details about checking into your hotel.
Homecoming | October 2
Homecoming is an exciting time for our students, alumni, and staff to come together and celebrate our school! Homecoming is a required event for all staff. Please be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. Horne listing the specific job you will be working that evening. Please note: we will not be having our normal Spirit Week leading up to Homecoming this year. Instead, we plan to move it to a later date in the school year.
Fun Run Extravaganza | October 9
Please continue to encourage your students through your classroom communications to bring in Business Sponsorships for our Fun Run Extravaganza! Our Kickoff Day is Wednesday, September 16! During chapel that week, students will receive all the information they need about the Fun Run Extravaganza, including incentives, fundraising details, and a website where they can collect their donations.
Reminders and Information
Test Calendar
Tests for 7th-12th graders should be scheduled on the calendar. Each grade level should have no more than two tests per day (one on Thursdays).
FACTS Lesson Plans
Please make sure your lesson plans include enough details that:
- Parents can check FACTS to find missed work when a student is absent.
- An unexpected substitute could step in and successfully lead your class for the day.
- Students and families know what was covered and what work needs to be completed for homework.
When a student is absent, please encourage and direct the family to FACTS first to check the lesson plans and missed work. Our goal is to help families get into the habit of checking FACTS as their first resource for keeping up with what they missed.
Active Defender App
Please make sure you have the app loaded on your phone and are logged in properly. Let Mrs. Lopez know if you need this information.
Each user will need to update their data. Here's how:
- Open the Active Defender app
- Hit the "gear" icon at the top right of the screen
- Scroll all the way to the bottom and hit "Reload Group Data"
That's it. Your app will function properly.
Hit the "Gear" icon
Select "Reload Group Data"
