Jon Gailmor Gets the School Year Rockin' Jon Gailmor Gets the School Year Rockin'

A huge thank you to Allison Gulka and the Walden Community Library for partnering with the school, and the CLIF program, to bring Jon Gailmor to Walden School, as well as send every kid home with two free books! The students were smiling from ear to ear and singing along with Jon to get the energy flowing for a great school year. We hope to bring Jon back later in the school year for a residency program to work with some of our classes on lyric and song writing.

8th Grade Making Memories and Building Leadership Skills 8th Grade Making Memories and Building Leadership Skills

The 8th graders got to spend the last 3 days with Barnet and Waterford 8th graders at Hulbert Outdoor Center. They've participated in lots of community building and leadership building activities including their high ropes course where they had to rely on, and support each other both emotionally and for safety. This is such a great opportunity for our 8th graders, and to get to experience it with the 2 other schools in CCSD makes the experience even more special. Thank you to our CCSD school board for prioritizing providing our students with opportunities like this and so much more!

Mrs. Frechette has students preparing to shoot for the stars this year, and has really captured their attention with the first science unit of the year. The students are eagerly learning about and building rockets that they will get to launch in a few weeks.

Middle School Community Building Middle School Community Building

The middle school spent a lot of time at the beginning of the school year building their community and sense of belonging. This is such a vital aspect to a successful school year for students, especially in the middle school and Mrs. Russell and Mr. Irwin did a great job getting students to talk about values, leadership capacity, inclusivity, equity, belonging, and culture.

PreK Getting Silly with Mr. Mike! PreK Getting Silly with Mr. Mike!

Ever heard of the "Tooty Ta"? Ask a Walden PreK student, and he or she will probably be able to tell you all about it. The "Tooty Ta" is a children's song with dance moves made famous by Dr. Jean Feldman, a renowned educator of young children and their teachers. Mr. Mike does a great rendition with the kids in music class and has a blast doing it!
