Credit Recovery and Competency Recovery Credit Recovery and Competency Recovery

zoom_out_map
Now that semester 1 grades have been issued, some students may be in need of credit recovery. Here are a few guidelines:

  • Credit recovery allows a student who did not pass (but, typically, was fairly close to passing) to complete work to attempt to raise their grade above passing. Normally, this is only used for high school students but in some cases it may be appropriate for middle school as well.
  • Credit recovery requires the student to have a conversation with their teacher to determine if credit recovery is a viable option for them.
  • If the teacher agrees to credit recovery, the teacher will develop a written contract with the student to specifically list the items that must be done, with deadlines. For yearlong classes, one of the contract items is usually that the student must also pass the course during second semester.
  • If the contract is successfully completed, the student will receive credit for first semester. The original failing grade will remain on the transcript, but a second grade for the semester will be added with a "P" for pass, awarding credit.

A slightly different process is used for members of the Class of 2028 who received a final grade of NCE ("no credit earned") on their report card. These students had a passing grade overall for the semester, but did not pass one or more of the course competency categories. These students will also receive a contract with the work needing to be completed, but when they successfully complete the work the NCE grade is replaced with their actual passing grade, and credit is awarded.

If you have any questions, please contact Principal Gregg Brighenti directly.

Reminder - Student Drop-Off Reminder - Student Drop-Off

A reminder about student drop-off -- from 7:30 - 8:00 this should be happening in the student parking lot, near the entrance to the auditorium. This keeps traffic moving quickly and safely through the front parking lot. We've been noticing an increase in students being dropped off in the staff parking lot and the driveway circle during this time. Except for students with mobility issues, this should not be happening. We do not want to start issuing detentions to students for something that is not in their control, but may be forced to for safety reasons if this situation does not improve. Thanks...

At the beginning of each semester, we like to remind everyone of the Lee Public Schools Bullying Policy. Anyone - parent, student, staff, or any observer - can report suspected bullying or harassment. No special form is necessary. Contact the office to speak with someone; or if you prefer, you may use the anonymous online reporting tool located on the LMHS web page - just click on the "See Something, Do Something" box.

No Peanuts, Please! No Peanuts, Please!

With the new semester, it's worth a reminder to everyone that while LMHS is not officially a "peanut-free school," we do have several students with severe allergies. We must all do our part to keep everyone at LMHS safe and secure, so please try to be sure to not send your student in to school with any products that contain peanuts. Thanks watching out for this!
