We hope this newsletter finds you well as we approach the holiday season. I want to remind you that there will be no school on Wednesday, December 20th to begin winter break. Students will have a well-deserved break to rest and recharge. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 4th.


I hope that this holiday season brings warmth, joy, and quality time with your loved ones. Take this opportunity to relax and have fun. If there is anything I can do to support you and your family, please do not hesitate to reach out via email.

Building Goal Update

In an effort to meet our building goal (80% of Woodlawn Elementary students will increase math fluency and meet their math CBMautomaticity goal as defined by the Benchmark trend line on the Fall to Spring CBMautomaticity report during the 2023-2024 school year), our students have been working hard on their math fluency. Every week, we take a four-minute FastBridge test to monitor our progress. These students scored at or above their goal weekly and were celebrated at our morning opener last Friday!

Mrs. Poracsky

Mrs. Poracsky is delighted to serve as the 2nd grade teacher. She obtained her bachelor's in History from Portland State University in 2005 and her master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Saint Mary in 2017. With seven years of teaching experience, this marks her second year at Woodlawn. Mrs. Poracsky is happily married with two children and a mini goldendoodle.

Ms. Rayome

Entering her 20th year in education, with 11 years at Woodlawn, Ms. Rayome is thrilled to teach 2nd grade. With all three of her children proud graduates of Woodlawn, she passionately champions Woodlawn Elementary as a true gem within North Lawrence. Ms. Rayome's deep affection for teaching 2nd graders is rooted in their boundless curiosity and wonder, a sentiment that amplifies the excitement of her famed "Wacky Wednesday" STEAM projects. Beyond the classroom, as a mother of three boys, she gracefully navigates a bustling life outside of school.
