Principal's Message
April 2025
The month of April will be busy as both grade levels will be taking the Ohio State Tests in English Language Arts and Math. Fifth graders will also take the Science Ohio State Test. Please see below for more information on state testing.
As a reminder, there is no school on Friday, April 18th due to Good Friday.

Ohio State Tests (OSTs)
Nord School will be completing Ohio State Testing on the following dates:
- Monday, April 14th and Tuesday, April 15th: 5th Grade English Language Arts
- Wednesday, April 16th and Thursday, April 17th: 4th Grade English Language Arts
- Thursday, April 24th and Friday, April 25th: 5th Grade Science
- Tuesday, April 29th and Wednesday, April 30th: 5th Grade Math
- Thursday, May 1st and Friday, May 2nd: 4th Grade Math
Here are some testing tips for families:
- Ensure your child gets plenty of rest the night before a test.
- Charge Chromebook overnight to ensure it is fully charged for testing.
- On the morning of the test, ensure your child is up in plenty of time and not rushed.
- Feed your child a good breakfast.
- Encourage your child to simply do their best.
State testing is required and we simply ask that our students try their very best. All of our students and staff have been working hard all year and we are proud of all that they have accomplished.
Comet Impact Family Survey
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework that guides school teams in the implementation of evidence-based practices. PBIS provides Nord with the tools we need to positively recognize our students and hold them accountable. At Nord, our PBIS framework is known as Comet Impact. Our Comet Impact behavior expectations are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.
Throughout the school year, staff engages students in explicit instruction of our school-wide Comet Impact expectations. Our Comet Impact matrix provides a common language that is used by all staff and students. Comet Impact is intended to support positive behavior and academic achievement while bringing out the best in Nord students not only academically, but also in the areas of social-emotional and behavioral growth.
Walter G. Nord's Comet Impact Committee would like to hear how families feel about our school. Please click here to complete the Comet Impact Family Survey. Dine-to-Donate
Each month Nord PTO hosts a Dine-to-Donate fundraiser at a local restaurant.
The next Dine-to-Donate fundraiser is on Wednesday, April 23 at Marco's Pizza. This is the 5th grade pizza box night (4th grade was March 5th). Students decorate a pizza box in Art class and can receive their order in their own box on April 23rd. All Nord Families may participate in Dine-to-Donate, not just 5th grade families!
