Ms. Newton's Notes

Happy Monday!

Welcome back everyone! We were happy to see the Cast of F.AVE back this morning. We hope that you all enjoyed the time off and are ready for the next stretch of learning. Our fifth graders will begin leaving for Tybee beginning this week. The following classes will depart February 26 and return February 28: PROPHET, BISHOP, DIGIACOMO, MADHERE, and JOHNSON. Thank you to our wonderful staff and parent volunteers for making this trip happen for us.

Attention 5th Grade Parents!

Please save the date for the rising 6th grade parent night to be held on Thursday, March 26th at 6:00 pm at Renfroe Middle School. Please note that this will be an adult-only event. More details will be shared in early March. We are looking forward to welcoming you at RMS!

PARENT SURVEYS

Georgia Parent Survey

As part of the Georgia Department of Education school climate rating for schools, parents, student , and staff are asked to complete parent surveys. The parent survey information is below. Please note that you may come to the school to complete this survey as well as complete it on a personal computer or device. Thank you in advance for taking the time to support our school.

The Georgia Parent Survey contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. For parents who do not have access to the Internet, the media center will be open from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM to allow parents to complete the Georgia Parent Survey at school on the media center computers. All parents should be encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous, self-reported, and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted below.

IDEA Survey

The IDEA Parent Survey will be open from January 15, 2020 – May 31, 2020.

The IDEA Parent Survey helps the state to determine parents’ perception of the success of parent engagement between the local school and themselves. The information is gathered as a component of the State Performance Plan, Indicator 8: Percent of parents with a student receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving results for children with disabilities. The data collected is reported in the Annual Performance Report and on the system profile about each system. Each state is required to conduct a parent survey collection process to measure parent/family needs and perceptions.

Georgia’s parent survey is available to all families of students with disabilities. The survey will be administered through an online link and can be found on the websites listed below.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence.

This family-friendly and all-ages dance will be held in the Decatur Recreation Center Gymnasium from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29th.
