City of Kindness Award

Mayor Cristy Simons visited Salem Junior High on Wednesday, March 25th to recognize Daisy Gonzalez with a City of Kindness certificate and gift bag. Here is what Daisy's teacher, Mrs. Sorenson, said about Daisy: "Daisy is an 8th grader here at the school. She has a bright smile and is kind to her peers. She advocates for others and is also learning to advocate for herself. Daisy has a quiet but sincere temperament, takes turns, and is willing to try new things. She is a self-starter and gets right to work when she understands the task at hand." Thank you, Daisy, for representing Salem Junior High School by being kind and caring to everyone around you!

Sports Sports

Intramural Weight Lifting

Salem Jr. High is excited to offer a weight lifting Intramural opportunity for students who want to get stronger, faster, and more confident in the weight room. The group meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30–7:30 AM and is football-tailored, focusing on strength, speed, and injury prevention—but all are welcome, no matter their sport or experience level. Whether you’ve lifted for years or have never touched a barbell, this club is designed to teach proper technique, build confidence, and create a positive team environment. Come work hard, improve, and start your day strong!

Brain Fair

We are excited to invite parents and children to our ninth annual Brain Fair on Saturday, April 11th, from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. in the Liberal Arts (LA) building hallway at Utah Valley University.

This event offers children of all ages the chance to explore the brain, neurons, and the senses through hands-on activity stations created by UVU undergraduate students under psychology faculty mentorship. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to engage together in science learning and spark curiosity about the human brain.

Please see the attached flyer for additional details.
