New Family Orientation - Thursday, August 7th
We welcome all of our incoming families to Citizens of the World Charter School - Kansas City (CWCKC)! We are so glad that you and your student(s) will be joining us this fall, and we know that you probably have some questions as you prepare for your first day of school on August 13th.
Please join us for a New Family Orientation on Thursday, August 7th from 6-7 pm. Following a presentation from our school leaders, pizza will be served, and there will be time for questions, available assistance in setting up your Parent Portal, and more. Students are welcome to attend with caregivers but are not required to do so. Parking is available in the CWCKC parking lot and on surrounding streets.
In the meantime, please explore our Family Dashboard for info about uniforms, school hours, meals, etc. or call the front desk at (816)499-8000 with any questions!
Tendremos un intérprete de español disponible para el día de orientación para familias nuevas y el día para conocer al maestro. Usted puede enviar un mensaje a Ivette De La Paz al número 816.804.2529 si tiene alguna pregunta en algún momento.
Meet the Teacher - Monday, August 11th

Spirit Wear Bundles Available - PreOrder by This Friday!
This year we will again be offering a bundle of three t-shirts and a zipped hoodie! These items, offered in both youth sizes ($55) and adult sizes ($62), are available for purchase through the CWC Merch Store for students, caregivers, and staff and can be worn as uniform pieces. Bundle orders will close on July 31st and will be sent home with students by the end of August.
You can find more information about uniforms by visiting the Uniforms page of the website.
Camp Fire After-School Program
Currently Camp Fire is maintaining waitlists for their elementary classes, but there is space in their middle school class. If you are in need of after-school care this year, please register as soon as possible to be added to the waitlist.
Similarly, if you registered previously and have had a change in plans, please reach out to Camp Fire as soon as possible to notify them that you no longer wish for your child to be registered.
Click here to register your child(ren). If you have any questions, please reach out directly to Camp Fire at 660-539-7100 or email them at megan.mcmurray@campfireheartland.org.
After School Clubs - Proposal Form
We are already making plans for the first semester after-school clubs! Clubs, which will begin in mid-September, meet after school once a week for ten weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until 5 pm. The cost is $100, and there are limited scholarships available for students of families who qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Our clubs are taught by school staff, caregivers, and community members who are passionate about a skill or hobby that they want to share with our students. Some examples of popular clubs from previous years are yoga, Spanish club, cooking club, chess, soccer, Dungeons & Dragons, and crafting! Club mentors are paid $600 at the end of the semester for attending an orientation and teaching ten weeks of clubs. If you would like to be a club sponsor, please fill out this club proposal form by Monday, August 11th.
Early Release Wednesdays
As a reminder, this year we will continue to have Early Release Wednesdays. Dismissal will take place at 1:50 pm every Wednesday beginning Wednesday, August 20th. Student supervision will be available until 3:30 for those students not enrolled in the after-school program if their caregivers are not able to pick up at 1:50 pm.
Camp Fire students will attend Camp Fire programming beginning at 1:50 pm on Early Release Wednesdays and may be picked up as late as 6 pm, as on other days.
