It has been such a great week at Cole School! It was so exciting to observe the Solar Eclipse on Monday right at dismissal. A huge thank you to the PTO and Mrs. Bersell for pulling together a Stay and Play event so we could witness this natural phenomenon as a community. K-2 classes also enjoyed a visit from author Maureen Harrington and her determined dog, Ivy. The presentation was excellent and we truly appreciate the PTO for sponsoring that event. 5th grade classes visited the South Shore Art Center and brought back gorgeous wool felted projects that they made there. Thanks again to the PTO for sponsoring that field trip! The Variety Show is coming along thanks to the PTO, Mrs. Carney, and her team of volunteers. K-2 had their first rehearsal on Wednesday. We can't wait to see the show on May 9th! We also wrapped up 3rd and 4th grade MCAS ELA testing. They worked hard and gave it their best effort. Way to go, 3rd and 4th graders!

Looking forward to the week after April vacation, 5th graders will take their MCAS ELA test. We'll also celebrate Bus Driver Appreciation Day on Tuesday and Secretary Appreciation Day on Wednesday. Be sure to remind your children to say thank you to these special community helpers! We're also very excited to have the Tanglewood Marionettes visit on Monday for two shows. 5th grade will be hosting the Community Meeting on Friday, 4/26 at 9:05 am in the gym and will focus on the SEL theme of responsibility. Community members are welcome to attend! 3rd graders will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday as well! It's going to be a wonderful week of learning after a restful April vacation!

We are in need of additional nurse substitutes. If you are interested in becoming a nurse substitute for the Norwell Schools, please apply on the employment tab of the Norwell Schools website.

Check out these Magnificent Meerkats! What an amazing group of students! We have several that have been nominated multiple times already! True gems! Here are some of the reasons they were nominated this week:

  • She shines brightly from her creativity, sense of humor, and kindness. She treats all her classmates with respect and kindness. Great job!
  • She has gone above and beyond this week helping with the Food Drive, volunteering to go downstairs and check on donations and organizing boxes. She is a passionate girl who is caring, bright and a true leader.
  • He is such a focused worker. He always tries his absolute best in all academic areas and shares his mathematical thinking with the group. He comes in each day and greets me, looks me in the eye and shares a smile. Before he leaves each day he says goodbye and thanks me. He has grown so much this year and his confidence has grown as well. Great job being a role model for our class!
  • He cares about everyone and makes you happy!
  • He is always going out of his way to help. He helped clean up a mess in the cafeteria without being asked even though he didn't make it.
