2025-2026 Year End Budget Review
Methacton School District’s Director of Business Services, Mr. Tyler Mauk, presented a breakdown of the 2025-2026 budget year. Annually, the district presents a review of revenue and expenditures from the previous school year along with explanations to variances in an effort to better inform the Board and Administration in preparing future budgets. Mr. Mauk shared that Local, State, and Federal revenues were more than budget by $1,163,989. He explained the variances to the budget were due to a higher tax collection rate than projected and that there were several areas of minor variances due to subsidy variances to expenses.
Mr. Mauk presented a breakdown of the expenditures for the same fiscal period based on the PDE Object level showing that the district had an expenditure variance of $1,128,843 greater than what was budgeted with a majority of the overages related to Special Education expenses. The Special Education expenses represented approximately $3 million of additional expense beyond what was originally budgeted. In summary, Mr. Mauk shared that the district ended with a budget surplus of $35,146 following the transfer of $1.4 million to the Capital Projects Fund.
