A Weekly Message from Superintendent Robert Wargo:

Dear Weymouth Public Schools' Families,

I hope you are healthy, and staying warm despite this week's cold temperatures.

As we turn the corner into the second half of the school year, this is a great time to pause, reassess our goals, and evaluate how far we've come.

At the district level, each year we are tasked with establishing goals that will help our students and staff succeed within the parameters of normal circumstances. Additionally, this year we were tasked with establishing goals to overcome the impacts of unfinished learning.

We are in the process of reviewing preliminary data that suggests many of the methods we've implemented are reporting gains and showing real and measurable success. We are optimistic our efforts are showing a positive impact, and that as a district we are heading in the right direction. As we continue to move through this process we will continue to look to intentionally address the impacts of the last two years. I look forward to providing a more detailed report in the near future.

I am immensely grateful to our entire staff who have worked through the challenges that continue to evolve this school year. During another year with what can feel like constantly changing circumstances, your drive to provide a high quality education to every student, a system of social support, and a positive and safe learning environment continues to have real and lasting impacts on a generation that has felt the educational impact of a pandemic like no other.

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. In honor of the lasting legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, next week our students will be encouraged to think about how they can have a positive impact on others, not just for one day, but every day. As a district, we will continue to advocate for all young people, and work collaboratively to ensure every child is engaged in a rigorous and high quality education, and that every student's social, emotional, behavioral, mental and academic needs are met every day.

Enjoy the long weekend with your loved ones, and we'll see you back in school next week.

Best Regards,

Robert Wargo

Superintendent
