2024

Forest families,
Happy Spring!
At this time, we are in the thick of state testing (M-Step) for third through fifth grades. Also, NWEA testing is taking or will take place for all grades this month. Many field trips are planned for May. Please continue to send appropriate outerwear for your child, since they will be going out for recess each and every day. The only exception would be if it is raining.
Please continue to check your child's Schoology group and courses. This will keep you informed of any and all upcoming events, changes and your child's grades. Schoology is the spot to find your child's classwork grades and assessments.
Just a reminder, if you would like to volunteer in your child's class, for our upcoming Fun Run or Field Day, or attend field trips, you MUST have a volunteer form filled out and approved at least 5 days prior to the event. (See volunteer link at bottom of this newsletter.)
If you have any questions or concerns, call the office at (734) 479-2550. You can also email myself (gmeli@riverviewschools.com) or Ms. Annie (aprusakiewicz@riverviewschools.com).
Go Pirates!

5th Grade Camp
YMCA Storer Camp - Jackson, MI
Riverview 5th grade students left for the Storer YMCA Camp in Jackson, MI the morning of April 16th. “The Great Outdoors” makes science and related curriculum come alive, and significantly more relevant, for each student.
Riverview 5th graders spent three full days and nights on-site at the Outdoor School. Storer’s staff of educators offer more than 30 courses that teach natural sciences, environmental issues, cultural history, and team building through active participation.
Forest students took part in the Taste of Nature, Firequest, Horse Sense, Gimme Shelter, In Cold Blood & Microscopic Ponderings.
It definitely was a great learning experience for all.

What is Schoology?
Schoology is our LMS, Learning Management System. It is a web-based platform that we use to manage and implement student learning.
In short, with Schoology, your student will access their courses, and homework, and view current grades.
From a parent's account, you can assume the role of your child to view their courses and work. You can set up notifications to your cell phone or email. And you will find important building updates for your school including student and family events.
Please join your child's school building group with the associated join code below.
For more instructions on joining or leaving a group you can refer to this document.

After reading, I welcome all input from you on this plan. Strategic Plan Click Here
Courtesy Clothes Closet
Are your child's clothing drawers overflowing? Does your child have clothing that does not fit any longer? We are looking for gently used items for our Courtesy Closet. Items would be available for students that need spare clothes during the school day. For those spills during lunch, in STEAM or for when students accidently fall into puddles or mud outside. Items for children in grades K-2 are in high demand. Stretch pants, running pants and leggings are most desirable. Please drop off donations to the office. Thank you so much!
Visit our "Lost & Found rack" inside the vestibule
Our Lost and Found rack is always overflowing with found items. If you feel your child has lost any items, please feel free to check out the items located in the vestibule at the main entrance before or after school.
