Take Flight 🦅

What a fun-filled week of showing off our Leyden spirit during our Western-themed Homecoming Week! On Friday, the school day ended with an energetic Pep Rally that included a visit from our most recent Wall of Fame inductees, an Orchesis dance performance, and a variety of country-themed competitions. There's STILL one missing squishy chicken 🐔 somewhere in the bleachers!

StuCo also revealed our newest Royal Eagles: Camilia Avitia and Konrad Kaplon. Congratulations to them and the rest of the 2025 Homecoming Court: Subomi Akinola, Jonathan Guerrero, Zach Jaffray, Andrea Palma, Nathan Pera, Omar Perez, Julissa Ramirez, and Tavey Tran.

During Friday night football, the Leyden Eagles trounced the Proviso East Pirates 40-0. Matthew Aguirre threw for 46 yards and one touchdown. Alen Buljina rushed for 118 yards. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in our matchups with the Pirates: we've now won five in a row!

Homecoming Week culminated on Saturday night with our HOCO Dance at East Leyden. Over 1,500 students danced the night away while enjoying great music and yummy churros. Take a look at the pics below to see if you were caught having a fun time at the dance!

Ecology Club and the migrating American White Pelicans came in for a landing at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center on September 20th. Students traveled along interactive trails, saw a pelican up close, and met naturalists at the pelican hotspots to observe these huge birds in the wild. This was a particularly special field trip since this Pelican Party only happens one time each year. Contact Dr. Veltman at tveltman@leyden212.org if you're interested in joining Ecology Club!
