Hello Pirate Families!

We are halfway through September! Do you have your Christmas decorations up already? 😂 I’m kidding! It just seems like time keeps flying by so fast.

We have another busy week ahead of us at East!

📝 SICA Testing This Week

This week, our students will be taking their ELA SICA testing, which is our ISAT practice testing.

The kids LOVE IT. Just ask them. 😂

I know we don’t like to focus too much on testing because, from my perspective, test scores are not what school is all about.

However, these assessments do give us something to measure and allow us to look at student growth throughout the year.

Please encourage your student to do their best and not stress! Easier said than done, I know. Our goal is simply for them to give us their best effort so we have good information about where they are right now.

🔒 Lockdown Drill on Tuesday

On Tuesday, we will be conducting our first lockdown drill of the school year.

We don’t want families to worry if you happen to see emergency vehicles at the school. Unfortunately, lockdowns are something we need to practice, and we take these drills seriously.

While I never want our students to feel overly anxious or scared about a drill, I do want them to understand the importance of being prepared and knowing what to do in any type of emergency. We will talk with students beforehand so they know this is only a drill and what will be expected of them.

I’m excited to see your kids bright and early tomorrow morning! They really are great kids, and I am loving getting to know all of them.

Middle school is such a fun, awkward stage of life. 😂 There are so many changes, new experiences, friendships, challenges, and opportunities happening all at once. I feel very fortunate that I get to be a small part of their lives as they navigate it all.
