Mill Valley Weekly
March 19th, 2026
Hello Mill Valley Families,
I would like to thank everyone for your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we responded to a first-of-its-kind incident. Last Friday’s power outage, while certainly an inconvenience, was a powerful testament to our emergency planning. Our amazing staff, students, and one Warrior Family across the district came together calmly to ensure the safety of all as we executed an early dismissal.
I would also like to thank our Dairyland bus drivers for responding quickly and adjusting to the unforeseen circumstances to run mid-day routes!
From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank all of you for doing your part and trusting us to care for your children during an unexpected situation. It is during moments like these that the strength of our school community truly shines. Your support, flexibility, and partnership make all the difference, and I am incredibly proud to be part of such a caring and resilient school family.
In Partnership,
Allyce Harris
MV Principal
Soon, we will begin to look at class placement for our students next year. Teacher teams will begin to plan for 2026-27 class rosters in April and May. When preparing classroom placements for next year, our staff carefully considers the match of student and teacher and the blend of students within a room. A process is used so that classrooms of the same grade are heterogeneous and balanced academically and socially. As we begin to construct class lists for next year, Mill Valley staff will consider many factors including parent/guardian input on learning needs and styles.
We appreciate input from parents as we begin this process and encourage you to fill out the Student Profile Survey. This form will only be available until Friday, March 27th.
Please note that in order to make balanced class lists, we cannot accept teacher requests nor assume your family will have the same teacher you may have worked with previously.

Specials and lunch schedules will be adjusted to provide an uninterrupted morning testing window.
Personal Communication Devices & Electronics
Soon, our 3rd and 4th grade students will be taking the Wisconsin Forward Exam. Please note that there are strict guidelines stating that personal communication devices are not permitted in the testing environment. This includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, smart watches, and all other similar electronic devices.
ALL students and families should be familiar with the school’s Personal Communication Devices & Electronics guidelines, which are outlined below and in the school handbook:
While elementary and middle school students may possess personal communication devices (PCDs) in school, on school property, during after school activities (e.g., extra-curricular activities), and at school-related functions, they must be kept out of sight and off during the instructional day (from the bell at the beginning of the day until the dismissal bell at the end of the day). For purposes of this policy, "personal communication devices" (PCD) include computers, tablets, electronic readers, cell phones, smartphones, MP3 players, handheld games, and/or other web-enabled devices of any type. The school is not responsible for these items if they are stolen. Given that our lockers are unlocked throughout the day, we ask that electronic equipment as described above is not brought to school. See Board Policy 5136 for more information.
If you need to contact your student during the school day, please do so by calling the school office.
Attention 4th Grade Families ~ LAST CALL to sing at the WAVE Game
Last call for anyone joining us for a fun afternoon singing our national anthem at the WAVE Soccer game this coming Sunday! Make sure to order your tickets and let Mrs. Awadallah know that you will be joining the team. They will be practicing one more time on Friday before they perform. We hope you can join us!!!! ~Mrs. Awadallah
Doctor Notes for Absences
Don't forget...you can ask for a doctor's school note for absences when you go to your pediatrician, dentist, orthodontist, and even urgent care visits. This note will change the attendance code from APT (appointment) to DRX (doctor excused).
Friendly reminder, Wisconsin law and district policy allow a parent/guardian to excuse a child up to 10 days in writing in a school year.
Human Growth & Development 2026
Dear Parents,
Each year, students in kindergarten through fourth grade receive instruction in human growth and development. We recognize that you too are providing one-on-one instruction related to your child’s human development and find it a privilege to partner with you in this endeavor. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of this up-and-coming instruction and to afford you multiple opportunities where you can learn more about the content of these lessons as well as to view the accompanying resources we will be using.
The lessons developed are the result of the efforts of our district’s human growth and development instructional team with the oversight and input of the district’s human growth and development advisory committee.
On the back of this letter, you will find an outline. If you would like to review the materials used for these lessons, you can do so by selecting one of the two options listed on the next page.
Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or myself, if you have any additional questions. If you prefer your son/daughter not receive instruction in one of the lessons listed, please contact your child’s teacher in advance so that another accommodation can be made when the lesson is taught.
Sincerely,
Allyce Harris
