Windermere's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Gym Dedication
Ellington Public Schools and the Town of Ellington celebrated the grand opening of Windermere Elementary School on October 15 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by students, families, staff, and community leaders. The celebration included the dedication of the gymnasium as the Dale Wilson Gymnasium, honoring longtime lead custodian Dale Wilson for his years of service and dedication to the school community. Students also played a special role in the event by leading tours of the new school and showcasing their learning environment. It was a wonderful day!

Convocation 2026: A Hand in the Harvest
A wonderful welcome to staff and faculty kicked off the 2026–27 school year! Following a student-led Pledge of Allegiance, a talented EHS student performed “My Country ’Tis of Thee” on saxophone, and new staff and service recognitions were celebrated.
In her first keynote, Dr. Susan Nash introduced herself not through a list of accomplishments, but through a story about growing up on a 30-acre apple orchard in northeastern Connecticut. She shared how the orchard taught her lessons about seasons, vulnerability, resilience, and leadership, lessons she now brings to her work in our schools. Her message was clear: we cannot choose every season we encounter, but we can choose how we move through it, and every one of us has a hand in helping our students grow.
