Adventure Family Newsletter: October 23, 2026
Dear Adventure Families,
What a fun and memorable start to our fall celebrations! Our Trunk or Treat event was a tremendous success, with one of our biggest turnouts yet, incredible costumes, and lots of community spirit on display. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the evening so special. A special congratulations goes to Dylan and Daphne's family, whose spectacular Addams Family-themed trunk was voted this year's Best Trunk!
As we look ahead, please remember to watch for communication on the Mapleton app from teachers about scheduling parent-teacher conferences on November 4 and November 5. These conferences are an important opportunity to discuss student progress and partner together for success.
I'd also like to draw your attention to the information included below regarding our upcoming Halloween and Día de los Muertos celebrations. We have several exciting activities planned and encourage families to review the details carefully.
Thank you for being such an important part of our school family.
Saludos,
Sarah and Marisa

New Policy Regarding Field Trips
Field Trip Chaperone and Parent Participation Guidelines
Field trips are an extension of the school's educational program. The school provides transportation, supervision, and student admission to ensure all students can participate in enriching educational experiences. The policy below has been added to our Student Handbook and is effective immediately.
Chaperones and Parent Participation
Parents who wish to attend a field trip with the school must complete the district volunteer application and background check process and be approved in advance by the coordinating teacher.
Approved chaperones may be assigned responsibility for supervising students and may ride the bus if space allows. Additional approved parent participants may be permitted to attend but are not included in supervision ratios and may be required to pay their own admission and related expenses.
While participating in a field trip, approved adults are expected to follow all directions provided by school staff and support the educational purpose of the trip. To ensure their full attention remains on student supervision, chaperones may not:
- Bring additional children, family members, or guests.
- Leave their assigned group to shop, purchase food, or visit attractions independently unless directed by school staff.
- Delegate their supervisory responsibilities to another adult.
Parents Attending Independently
Parents or family members who attend a field trip destination without prior approval are not considered participants in the school-sponsored trip. They may not join student groups, supervise students, serve as chaperones, or participate in school-organized activities.
Student Supervision and Transportation
Students participating in a school-sponsored field trip are expected to remain with their assigned group and under school supervision for the duration of the trip.
All students who travel to the field trip destination on school-provided transportation must return to school on school-provided transportation. Exceptions may be made with prior approval.
Parents or guardians who wish to dismiss their child early from school on the day of a field trip must do so through the school's regular checkout procedures after the student has returned to school. Students may not be signed out directly from the field trip destination except in emergency situations approved by school administration.
The coordinating teacher and school administration reserve the right to determine the number of chaperones needed and approve all volunteer participation based on student safety, supervision needs, and the educational goals of the trip.
An Update about our Lost and Found
Unity Day
Adventure stands against bullying together and wear orange to show our united support!
Updates about Extracurricular Clubs
Current clubs will continue through December 18, 2026 (unless you have received an email from Elaine Proulx stating otherwise). If your child is not currently enrolled in clubs and you would like to enroll them, please email our grant coordinator at proulxe@mapleton.us
There will be no afterschool clubs the week of November 2, 3, 4, and 5 due to parent-teacher conferences. Please plan for your child to be picked up at 3:10pm that week.
Refresh yourself on Club Attendance Policies:
Consistent attendance is required — students may miss no more than 2 days per 12-week cycle or they will be removed from clubs for the term. If your student can't commit to the full semester, please wait for the spring.
If you arrive after 5:50 pm to pick up your child more than once, they will be removed from clubs and invited back for the next semester.
Sixth Grade Gold Honor Roll
Adventure is proud to celebrate five incredible students who earned a 4.0 grade point average during the first quarter of their 6th grade year! These students earned all A's! Congratulations to Alexa, Ariadne, Genesis, Yolanda, and Bayleigh! These five girls will enjoy a special celebratory lunch on Monday from Raising Canes!
Meet the Marmot Team: Mrs. Vega, 4th Grade Teacher!
VIVA: Volunteers Inspiring and Valuing All!
Celebrating every family, every voice.
VIVA raised $4,389 from last week's Trunk or Treat event, wow! These proceeds allow the volunteers to afford the student events for the rest of the year. A special thank you to Tina and Celina for all their hard work preparing the event and to all the volunteers who donated candy, hosted a trunk, and worked the games.
Coming up next is the Thanksgiving Food Drive and Winter celebrations! Join us for the next meeting on Friday, November 13 at 2:15.
