Broadmoor's WeeklyWildcat News!March 30, 2025

Dear BES Families,

We have a pretty quiet week coming up!

I want to thank Jessica Finch with In Bloom for the breakfast treats on our in-service day, March 14th; our PTO for coffee on our first day back and our local Girl Scouts for donating cookies for our teachers. We were also treated this week by members of The Porch with a delicious spaghetti dinner for our staff. It was amazing! Lastly, thank you to Lacy Holman and Olsson Engineering for providing us three amazing assemblies. We loved it!

Summer camp information is out, but not all camps! We are also hosting Camp Invention at BES this summer. The links are below. Make sure to check the LHS Summer Camp page often as it will be updated over the next several weeks.

Kindergarten Round-Up was last week at RES. If you or someone you know missed it, please have them call the Rockville office to coordinate! Their number is 913.837.1970

Have a great week,

Cindy Apple, Principal

Attendance and School Calendars Attendance and School Calendars

Receive an Attendance Email from School?

If you receive an attendance letter from school, it is meant to inform you of your student's absences or tardies. This way you can also keep track of the days gone and how to plan ahead to

miss fewer days.

When Your Child Misses School:

One week gone is approximately 7.5 hours of instruction lost in reading and in math. That doesn't include the extra time teachers provide to check for understanding and mastery of concepts so they can move on to the next concept. We see some students really struggle to get caught back up when they've missed extended time. We attempt to make it up during school hours, but your child may be required to stay after school to work with teachers or our tutors.

Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.

Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!

If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.

GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
