Read to Succeed Act
The South Carolina Read to Succeed Act is a state law that helps make sure all students are strong readers by the end of third grade. Schools provide extra support for students who struggle, and families are encouraged to read at home. The goal is simple: to give every child the reading foundation they need for future success. See below for the letter you should have received the first week of school.
Attention 3rd Grade Parents: Please take special note of the section of the law regarding 3rd grade retention.
Counselor Corner
This year, we’re starting something new and exciting—our Character Education Program! Each month, we’ll focus on one important character trait that helps make our school a great place to learn and have fun.
September’s trait is Respect. Respect means being kind, listening when others are talking, using good manners, and treating people the way you want to be treated.
At the end of the month, each class will vote for the student who has shown the most respect. Those students will be celebrated as role models for our school!
Let’s work together to make our school a place where character counts every day!
Homework Tips for Parents and Caregivers
Establishing consistent routines at home helps children feel secure, stay organized, and build strong habits that support their academic success. When kids know what to expect each day—like a set time and place for homework—they’re more likely to stay focused and complete tasks with less resistance.
