Jag Wire
Week 1: August 10th-14th
The countdown is on! After a full week of professional development, planning, and preparation, our staff is putting the finishing touches on everything we need to welcome our Jaguars back to Sartartia Middle School. Tomorrow, our teachers will be busy preparing classrooms, finalizing plans, and getting ready for an incredible first day on Tuesday!
We hope you’ll join us for one of our favorite back-to-school traditions—Chalk the Walk! This is a great opportunity for our Jaguar community to come together, socialize, spread a little positivity, and get excited for the year ahead. We’ll have popsicles to help everyone cool off while we fill our sidewalks with Jaguar spirit!
We’re also excited to continue one of our favorite first-day traditions—Roar Rallies! On the first day of school, students will attend all eight class periods and come together with their grade level for a high-energy pep rally filled with school spirit, fun, and excitement as we officially launch the 2026–2027 school year together. Roar Rallies are all about:
- Welcoming our Jag family
- Celebrating school spirit
- Introducing our AIR expectations: Accountability, Integrity, and Respect
- Celebrating last year’s successes
- Launching an incredible new school year!
Students do not need to bring school supplies on the first day of school but will have access to their lockers. We encourage students only to bring what they need on the first day and bring additional supplies on Wednesday.
We know many families are eager to know their student’s schedule! Our team is continuing to make adjustments as we work to balance classes and you may notice continued changes to schedules in Skyward. All students will receive a copy of their final schedule in advisory on Tuesday morning. At this time, we are unable to accept schedule change requests. Once school begins, we will share information about the schedule change process if adjustments are needed. Please note that elective changes will not be made if a student received one of their top four elective selections.
The classrooms are ready. The teachers are ready. The countdown is almost over. Now it’s time to ROAR! We can’t wait to see everyone on Tuesday and kick off an amazing year together.
Your Proud Principal,
Cholly Oglesby

We are especially proud to celebrate former Jaguar, Manasaa Padmanabhan, who brought home an incredible two World Championship titles!
Manasaa’s accomplishments:

Master Smith also represented Sartartia with an impressive performance, bringing home:
- 2 Silver Medals

We could not be more proud of the way Manasaa and Master Smith represented Sartartia Middle School, Kickstart Kids, and the United States on the world stage. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment are an incredible example of what it means to be a Jaguar!

- Be safe and patient during arrival and dismissal. Drive carefully and be kind!
Student Password Reset
We are very excited to welcome our students for the 2026-2027 school year. As we prepare them for learning, one of the most critical pieces of information is their login credentials. We need your help with getting students to test their login. This will ensure a smooth first day of school experience on August 11.
Please follow the instructions below to obtain the student password information before the first day of school. This will provide you with time to help prepare our students for the start of school.
- From the Family Access portal, click on the menu button, and navigate to your student and select “Student Password Information”. Click the arrow to the left of your student's name to view the full “Student Password Information”.
- Have the student test their credentials by signing into 1Link using their FBISD username and password details stated in the Student Password Information form in Skyward.
- Please note: If your student is moving from 2nd to 3rd grade or from 5th to 6th grade, their password will be different from the previous year’s password. Please ensure they are using the new password when testing their login.

Visit the FBISD Child Nutrition webpage to learn about additional benefits. Only one application needs to be completed for each household.
To apply, parents will need to have the following information:

- Signature of an adult household member attesting that the information provided is correct
Families may apply at any time during the school year, should their household circumstances change, including the loss of a job, a decrease in household income or an increase in household size. The District uses the following criteria to determine a family’s eligibility:
- Household income that is at or below the income eligibility levels,

- Children who are in foster care, homeless, a runaway, migrant farm worker or displaced by a declared disaster, or enrolled in Head Start.
Clinic
- Immunizations: All immunizations must be up to date prior to the start of the school year. Please ensure that your child is up to date before August 11, 2026. All required immunizations can be found here.
- FBISD Medication Policy: We are pleased to help oversee any medication administration that must occur during school hours. However, we must comply with Texas State Law, and therefore the following restrictions apply to student medicine management while at school.
- All medications must be brought in by a parent/guardian in the original container. This includes prescription and non-prescription drugs, including cough drops. The child should not be sent to school with medications to bring to the clinic. Students are not allowed to carry their own meds to and from school. Please do not send loose pills in a baggy in your child’s lunch kit or backpack. If your child must take prescription medications at school and at home, please ask your pharmacist to dispense them in two separate, properly labeled containers so that we may keep one at school.
- All medications must be kept in the clinic office. For the protection of all students, medications may not be kept by students, including inhalers and cough drops, unless given written permission by their personal physician.
- All medications must be submitted with written instructions from a parent. All prescription medications also need a signature of a physician. An appropriate medication administration form must be completed by the parent or guardian and should include the child’s full name and amount of medication to be taken, reason for taking the medication, and the time it is to be given. Over-the-counter medications (such as Advil or Tylenol) can only be given according to the label directions for your child’s age and weight unless accompanied by a note from a physician. Any medication needed for more than 15 school days requires a note on file from a physician. Medications needed three times a day should be given at home around school hours ~ check with your child’s physician.
- School personnel will not give any medication unless provided by the parent. We do not house OTC meds that can be given randomly for fevers or pain.
- Medications must be picked up at the end of the school year by an adult. They cannot be sent home with the students or housed over the summer. Any meds left in the clinic at the end of the year will be discarded per district policy.

Laptops
Fort Bend ISD is excited to continue offering the Equipped 1:1 laptop program for all secondary students during the 2026-27 school year, which provides every student with a personal device they can use during class and at home and aligns with our district’s goal to provide equitable learning opportunities for all students.
The district offers laptop insurance to cover accidental damage, loss or theft. It is strongly encouraged that families purchase this coverage. The cost of the insurance is $35 for the school year, with discounted rates and waived fees for those who qualify.
COVERAGE DETAILS
FBISD insurance includes:
- Up to two repairs per year – Covered at 100%
- One total loss per year (lost, stolen or unrepairable device) – Covered at 100% after a $150 deductible
- Insurance must be purchased annually — coverage does not automatically renew or carry over from a previous school year.
Laptop insurance may be purchased on RevTrak. Parents and guardians may pay in installments, but the insurance will not be active until the payments are complete.
PE & Athletics
Athletics & Tryout Requirements
Our athletic seasons are quickly approaching. Students interested in trying out for any sports should ensure they have a completed UIL physical form on file and have completed all the electronic paperwork in RankOne. Please contact Coach Hayley Martinez or Coach Chris Lee with any questions.
PE Uniforms
All students will need a PE uniform to dress out when attending PE . Uniforms can be purchased through RevTrak on the SMS website. Many students at SMS purchase two PE uniforms, however there is no limit to the number purchased. There is no need to list sizes during purchase as sizes will be determined at distribution during your child's PE class. Students are always allowed to wear their own athletic shorts/pants as long as they are black with minimal branding or markings. Students are encouraged to take uniforms home on Friday to launder and bring back on Monday.
7th Grade Students: Every 7th grade student will take health for one semester, but still needs a PE uniform for the semester of PE. Please order uniform now and do not wait until January.
KickStart Students: You do not need to buy a PE shirt or shorts. Specific attire for KickStart will be communicated to you later.
