A Note From Our Principal A Note From Our Principal

Hello, Eagles!

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, it’s hard not to reflect on just how far our students have come. This has been a year full of growth, resilience, and accomplishment—and our students have truly soared.

From the classroom to the field, the stage to the community, our students have continued to rise to the challenge. We’ve seen academic gains, outstanding performances in fine arts, competitive success in athletics, and countless moments where our students demonstrated character, leadership, and pride in being part of New Caney High School. Without a doubt, these are the moments that define who we are as a school.

Now, as we approach the finish line, our focus is simple: finish strong. Every assignment, every assessment, every day matters. We encourage all of our students to stay committed, stay engaged, and take pride in the work they are doing. The habits built in these final weeks are just as important as those at the beginning of the year.

Parents and guardians, thank you for your continued partnership. Your support—whether it’s ensuring attendance, encouraging effort, or celebrating successes—makes a difference. Please continue to remind your student of the importance of showing up each day ready to learn and give their best.

Thank you for being part of a community that believes in our students and pushes them to be their best. Together, we will finish this year strong—because that’s what Eagles do.

Best Wishes,

Amber Beard

Attendance & Make-Up Hours

Attendance matters! Students need to be in class every day for essential instruction and to meet state requirements for earning credit. The state requires students to attend 90% of all class sessions in order to earn credit. Please check here to see if your student has make-up hours. Students may earn hours by staying after school Monday-Thursday from 3:15-5:15 and on Fridays from 3:15-7:15. Remember that we do offer late buses Monday-Thursday if transportation is a concern.

Student Fines

Please click the link to see what fines your student may owe. If you have any questions, please reach out to your student’s Assistant Principal. These fines must be cleared before semester exams. Senior fines must be cleared by May 15th in order to participate in senior events.

Where can I pay fines?

  • Cafeteria fines may be paid online through SchoolCafe or in person at the cafeteria, Line 5, at the end of each lunch through May 15.

  • Technology (Chromebook) and ID fines may be paid to our bookkeeper, Ms. Klander, located in the A Hall office. In addition, Ms. Klander will be set up outside the cafeteria during all lunch periods over the next few weeks for your convenience, where payments for Technology and ID fines will also be accepted.

  • Library fines may be paid directly to Mr. Catchings in the library. Additionally, Mrs. Soto will be set up outside the cafeteria during all lunch periods over the next few weeks, where library fine payments may also be made.

Senior Exemptions and CCMR

To be eligible to exempt any final exams, you must have a CCMR point on record. The final list of CCMR points will be submitted at 3:30 PM on Friday, May 1st.

If you are currently working toward earning a CCMR point, please note that all requirements must be fully completed and verified by that deadline. One of the most accessible ways to earn a CCMR point is by completing Texas College Bridge. If you plan to use Texas College Bridge for exemption eligibility, it must be finished no later than 3:30 PM on May 1st.

After this deadline, no additional CCMR points can be added for the purpose of final exam exemptions.

You can check your current CCMR status here. Please note that any industry-based certifications that count towards CCMR have been recorded. If you have a certification that is not counting, it is because you are not a CTE completer in that path of study.

NCISD and NCHS use a variety of digital learning programs to help with student enrichment, engagement, and collaboration. We also use programs to help connect with parents and guardians as well. Our main programs that are beneficial to parents and students are the following:

  • Skyward - This is our official gradebook with student schedules, progress reports, and attendance
  • Canvas - Teachers use Canvas for instructional purposes, including classwork, homework, and resources for student learning.
  • Students use Classlink to access any campus and district programs and websites, such as, Canvas.
  • ParentSquare- ParentSquare is our district's new communication platform that NCHS. It is similar to the Remind process. Parents/Guardians automatically have information in there based off Skyward registration.
  • Paper Tutoring - Provides live tutoring 24/7 for students.

Personal Communication Devices Prohibited Personal Communication Devices Prohibited

The Texas Legislature passed legislation this year that requires school districts to adopt policies prohibiting students from using personal wireless communication devices on school property during the instructional day and that designates a secure, out-of-sight area for storage of these devices.

A personal wireless communication device includes items such as cell phones, text messaging devices, laptops, and tablets — any device capable of transmitting or receiving data that the school does not provide for instructional purposes.

The district’s updated policy, in accordance with law, is that:
Personal communications devices must remain off or on silent and stored in backpacks throughout the instructional day except before school or after school. Cell phones and other personal communication devices may not be stored on a student’s person.
