Note from Mr. Dubinsky

Our first trimester is now in the books, and I want to extend my gratitude to our entire school community. Thanksgiving is here, and it’s the perfect time to reflect on all we’ve accomplished together. Our students continue to grow and learn every day. We have a dedicated staff that ensures students come first and feel success at Briar Glen.

Thank you to all our families for your partnership and support. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Briar Glen Girls Gotta Run sign up!

Briar Glen Girls Gotta Run inspires young girls to define their lives on their own terms, make new friends, build confidence, and celebrate all that makes them unique. This program is for girls in grades 3-5.

We will strive to have 30-40 girls total, on a first-come, first-serve basis. This year we will start EARLY on January 13, with meetings every Tuesday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Students will need to be picked up from school -- transportation is not provided. We will not have practice over spring break. The program will run for 18 weeks until May 19. The first practice will be January 13, and the last practice will be on May 19. We will conclude the season with a 5k on Saturday, May 23. Time and location are to be deteremined for the end-of-season 5k.

Your child will receive a t-shirt and water bottle as part of the club fee. Your child will need to provide their own snack for each practice, so please plan to pack an extra snack on those days.

There is a fee of $30 to join. You may pay in cash or in a check made out to Briar Glen School. If you need financial assistance, please indicate that on the sign up form.

The last day to sign up and turn in money is December 19.

Planning an early pickup? Please try to arrive before 3:15 p.m.

As we approach the end of the day, our front office and hallways become especially busy preparing for dismissal at 3:35 p.m. If you need to pick your child up early, we ask that you do so no later than 3:15 p.m. This helps us ensure a smooth and safe dismissal process for all students.

In the event of an emergency, please do not hesitate to call the office at (630) 545-3300 ahead of time and we will have your child ready.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Be prepared for winter with accurate contact info, warm clothes

When school buildings need to close due to extreme weather, information will be released through a phone message, as well as the district’s website (www.ccsd89.org) and Facebook page (facebook.com/CCSD89). The district’s messaging system uses contact info supplied by guardians, so it is important you contact the school secretary and update your records if they have changed.

Even when school is open, students should dress for the cold. Students will continue to go outside for recess as long as the weather remains above 10 degrees (feels like temperature). If your family needs help getting winter clothing, our school can help; please call the school’s main number and ask for our school’s social worker.
