Mustang Update
Where has the time gone? It feels like we just welcomed back our students a brief moment ago and now we are in the month of May and looking at the last few days for our seniors and then the rest of the student body right after that group! The area churches will be hosting a Baccalaureate Service for the Class of 2026 on Sunday, May 10th starting at 7:00 pm. This event will be hosted in the Commons. All are invited. The seniors last half day is Tuesday, May 12th with a 12:00 pm dismissal. The seniors will then meet in the gym for one last meal together and then we will take them to the elementary schools for the traditional hallway walk in their gowns. The students will then come back to the school for graduation rehearsal and after that they will be free to leave. Our Awards Night for the seniors will be hosted on Tuesday, May 12th, and this event starts at 7:00 pm. Graduation is scheduled for May 16th with a 2:00 pm start time! We hope to see you at these events as we send the Class of 2026 off in style!
Although summer break is right around the corner, we do not just put a halt to all activities. We have summer weights and conditioning, sport camps, summer school and other activities scheduled throughout the summer months! This year, we have to be creative because our high school gym will be off limits as the new upgrades are completed! This will be a major project for us at Valley Heights but we are excited to see the end result!
The last day of school for the rest of our 7-11 students will be a 12:30 dismissal on May 20th. Parents, please make sure that all lunch accounts and all other outstanding bills are paid prior to this date! Of course, we will still have to complete our spring sports season with baseball, softball, golf and track post-season action on the calendar!
We had a great crowd for our annual Spring Fling which showcases our fine arts programs and the Class of 2026. The seniors did a great job with their displays and visiting with our guests about their future plans. During the night we were treated to a display of the art work our students produced throughout the year and then a fantastic performance by our instrumental and vocal groups to end the evening. Congratulations to all of our students and to those staff members who guided these students during this school term – Mrs. Lana Stevenson, Mrs. Liz Miller and Mrs. Malari Schroller.
One big event still on the calendar is the TVL Track Meet that we will host on May 14th. Field events will start at 1:00 pm. Some of the best track athletes in the state will be on hand to compete so make plans now to join us and watch some terrific performances!
We’ve had a very busy week out here at Valley Heights and still have plenty to accomplish before the end of the school year so I am going to keep my letter short and sweet this week!
Let’s go Mustangs!!
