  • The third quarter is a busy time at JFDS. It also marks the initial stages of planning for the 2025-26 school year.
  • Eighth grade parents should keep an eye out for information and materials from Bangor High School. BHS staff and students will be visiting JFDS to share what it is like to be a high school student and help guide in course selection for next year.
  • Sixth and seventh grade families should expect a course recommendation letter to come home with each student during the third quarter. This process allows parents, students, and teachers to collaborate on the selection of classes for next year.

  • After researching Martin Luther King Jr., Mrs. Lowe’s class wanted the students of James F. Doughty to walk in MLK’s footprints. The class discussed different ways that they could change the world for the better. The footprints will lead the students to a bulletin board of books and information about Martin Luther King Jr. and freedom fighters.

Monday at BHS!

  • Crosstown Hoops is an exciting, annual event for both Bangor middle schools. The Doughty Bulldogs battle our crosstown rivals, the WSCS Eagles, on the basketball court at Red Barry Gymnasium. The Cohen and Doughty B Cheerleaders will cheer on their schools and the combined middle school chorus will sing the National Anthem before the B games and the A Games. This event has always brought about a fun, competitive spirit between the schools.

  • Concessions will be available throughout the evening. Thank you to the Cohen Boosters and Dr. Chadbourne for organizing this great event. Please see the attached flyer for game times and more information.

Chronic Absenteeism - Did You Know? Chronic Absenteeism - Did You Know?

zoom_out_map
  • Chronic absenteeism occurs when a student misses 10% of the days that they are enrolled in school. In Bangor, for a student attending the entire school year, chronic absenteeism would be 17 days or an average of approximately two days per month. Chronic absenteeism is based on total absences - both excused and unexcused. We look forward to meeting our school goal of 95% attendance by June 2025!
