SPRING INTO ART
Spring Into Art was a GREAT success!
On Friday May 19th, every GHS student who has taken an art course throughout the 2022-2023 school year had their work displayed throughout the art wing for this art extravaganza! There were fun demo stations throughout our six art studios and tons of art to view in the hallways. In addition to the GHS students who came to visit throughout the day, we had elementary and middle school students come to visit, get some inspiration, and get excited about joining the GHS Visual Arts community in the future.
Thank you Ava Marcus (GHS 10th Grader) for your beautiful Spring Into Art poster design!

A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO GHS STUDENT WILLIAM SCHUHMACHER
Over the summer, while looking at Amaco glaze color charts sophomore student William Schuhmacher became interested in seeing how the glaze combinations would look on our clay body. Glazes are the colors that are applied to ceramic objects after the clay goes through a bisque firing in a kiln. The glaze must be fired to transform the material into a glass-like surface. Glaze combinations can be quite surprising due to the reaction of the chemicals and the response to extreme heat (cone 6 kiln firing of 2200F degrees). Although he wasn’t in a ceramics class during Fall Semester, Will worked out a plan with Ms. Scarogni and then generously donated his time to his idea. Will made it his mission to come during opens and Flex Time to create over 400 test tiles of the layered Amaco Potter’s Choice Glaze combinations. He then categorized all the tiles with an excel spreadsheet and installed his favorite results in our ceramics studio. Thank you Will for creating this wonderful resource for our classes!
