Hello Families,

Thank you for your support the past few weeks with Benchmarks. We have one more day of testing. Wednesday, February 25th our 5th graders will take their Science Benchmark.

I love this weather we are having! Mrs. Perkins worked hard to supply recess carts for our students. It is fun to see them playing with everything outside and having fun together!

Remember, students have school next Friday, February 27th!

Have a wonderful three day weekend!

New Student Enrollment is Now Open for 2026-2027 - Refer a Friend to Apply to Life School Today

Spring Picture Day & $3 Free Dress Day

Please note an important date change: our $3 Free Dress Day and Spring Picture Day have been moved to Tuesday, March 17, no longer February 11. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we navigate these adjustments together.

Lost & Found Items

Please be sure to label your child’s items with their first and last name and check any items your child brings home, as jackets and sweaters can easily get mixed up during the day. Next week, our Lost & Found items will be displayed on tables, so please take a moment to look for any missing belongings that may belong to your child.

Nominate an Outstanding Teacher or Staff Member

We love celebrating our amazing teachers and staff. Is there someone you would like to shout out for demonstrating LifeLeader qualities and making a difference every day?

*Please submit your nominations by March 31st using this link: LifeLeader Nominations.

Life's Finest

Bring a friend to Life’s Finest who is not currently enrolled in Life School and receive a free Lion or Mustang mascot patch. (Good while supplies last.) Check in with your friend at the information table in the Oak Cliff Auditorium lobby to receive your free gift.

Spring Benchmark Spring Benchmark

As we prepare for our upcoming Spring Benchmark assessments, we want to share key dates and guidelines to ensure a successful testing experience for everyone.

Upcoming Benchmark Dates:

  • February 25: Science Benchmark (Grade 5) No Campus Visitors

  • February 26: Makeup Testing for Science Benchmark (Grade 5)

These tests provide teachers with important information about what your child has learned so far and what skills may need additional focus in the spring. To help your child do their best, please make sure they get a good night's sleep and have a nutritious breakfast on testing days. We also encourage students to bring a snack and a bottle of water to stay energized and focused.

Important Reminders for Families:

  • To support our students in maintaining focus during testing, we kindly ask that classroom observations not be scheduled on the dates indicated above.

  • Additionally, on the dates indicated above, we request that there be no visitors for lunch across all grade levels, including Kindergarten through 2nd grade to keep the atrium area quiet for students as they are testing.

Thank you for your support in creating a calm, focused environment for all our students. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

Attendance Reminders & Expectations Attendance Reminders & Expectations

This message is a reminder of our arrival and dismissal expectations. Campus doors open at 7:15 a.m., and instruction begins promptly at 7:40 a.m. Students should be in class and ready to learn by that time. As a campus serving over 1,000 students, morning traffic can be busy, and we ask families to plan accordingly.

A five-minute grace period is provided, with tardies recorded beginning at 7:45 a.m. Traffic delays due to accidents or inclement weather are taken into consideration.

The school day ends at 4:05 p.m. Early releases should be limited to necessary situations whenever possible.

Recently, we have seen an increase in unexcused tardies and early releases, which disrupt instructional time and impact learning. One of our goals is to help students grow as LifeLeaders by building positive habits that will support them as they get older, including the importance of being on time and valuing learning.

Below are the attendance brochure and flyer with additional attendance information.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting a safe, orderly, and learning-focused school day.

  • Mrs. Sons (3rd grade)genuinely cares for her students and I love that she stands up for them if or when there is a misunderstanding. My daughter felt cared for by her and I just love her for going above and beyond.
  • Ms. Mendoza-I just want to take a moment to give a heartfelt shout-out to Miss Mendoza, my daughter's kindergarten teacher. She has been so sweet, patient, and gentle with her in a way that truly shows. May daughter comes home excited to share what she’s learned and will often say, “Miss Mendoza taught me that,” or “Miss Mendoza does it this way.” As a parent, that speaks volumes. Knowing that my daughter spends eight-plus hours a day in a classroom where she feels safe, comfortable, and cared for gives me so much peace. What really meant the most to me was when Miss Mendoza took the time to personally reach out to better understand some things that may have been going on with Kensleigh. She wanted to know how to support her in the best way possible. That level of intentional care may be part of her job, but as a mom, it means everything. It makes me feel 100% confident and comfortable sending my child into a classroom where I know her teacher genuinely cares about her well-being just as much as I do. Thank you, Miss Mendoza, for the love, patience, and dedication you pour into your students every single day. It truly does not go unnoticed.

  • Mrs. Echols-She has brought a sense of calm and confidence to my student and our family by taking extra time to share learning and help us fully understand the curriculum. She has made our toughest educational year less stressful and soothing by communicating with transparency of the expectations and how we can cope to change. She is so appreciated and we are grateful 🙏
  • Ms. Stanmore-Although my child has challenged her daily from the first day of school, she is the one teacher that he comes home and talks about. What they have learned that day, how he helped in class, the laughs that they had. Even when he has had a rough day, she always communicates and has positive feedback for him. As a new teacher it’s hard to connect with students sometimes but she has truly found a way to connect with my son.
  • Mrs. Grey is very attentive to my child! I love that she cares about all her children. You can see on how she knows all of the kids. Anytime there is a problem she gets on it. Not only that but she speaks life into my child. For that I love Mrs. Grey!

  • Mrs. Wolverton-Your professional support and inventive methods have empowered my children to overcome challenges, and we're deeply grateful.
  • Mrs. Brough- She has impacted my daughter in such a positive way. She now can't wait to go to school because Mrs. Brough has shown her such kindness and love. Words can't express enough what this means to us.

  • Mrs. Fritz-My son was nervous to go to breakfast for the first time. She walked him through line and found someone for him to sit with and checked in with him. Now he's confident and gives her a hug when he enters the cafeteria. She is kind and sweet to everyone!

  • Ms. Cockrell-My son is doing better now and also progressing academically.

  • Mrs. Ramirez has such a kind soul and very passionate about her job. My kid loves having her as a teacher and is always talking about how great of a teacher she is to him.

  • Mrs. Curtis has showed such empathy and patience with my baby. My daughter is excited about school because she makes her class safe and inclusive. I love knowing I’m sending my child to school where she can grow academically and socially while being handled with care.

  • Ms. Mendoza has made Kindergarten so special for my son and his classmates. She leads with patience, understanding, and grace in very stressful situations. Knowing that he's in very capable hands make it easier dropping him off every day. Thank you Ms. Mendoza for making our kids feel special and seen!

  • Mrs Gaynor came in while daughter's teacher was out on maternity leave. I was nervous at how that would impact her in the middle of the year. However Mrs Gaynor led the class with calm and structure. My daughter was visibly still learning and growing. I thank both her and Mrs Cypher for their preparation and support.

  • Kelly Osborne-She has consistently demonstrated professionalism, patience, and a genuine commitment to understanding our children's needs. Her attention to detail and advocacy helped us better understand our children's strengths and areas of need, allowing appropriate supports to be put in place. As a family, we felt heard, respected, and included in the decision-making process. Her work has made a lasting difference in our child’s educational experience and has given us confidence moving forward.

Weekly I Will Statements

During morning announcements, we will focus on one LifeLeader Attribute each week and learn what we need to do to develop each attribute so that we can become effective leaders in our school and in our community. We encourage students and families to memorize these statements together and talk about how the attribute is exhibited at home, school and work. We will share the I Will statement in the weekly newsletter and on our campus Facebook page. We look forward to hearing how students are exhibiting the attributes at school and home. We invite you to partner with us by asking your child how they are demonstrating these school rules both at school and at home.
