Dear AKChoice Families,

As we wrap up Quarter 1, I want to thank our families for their continued support and involvement in their students' education. The end of the quarter is an important time to reflect on student progress, celebrate accomplishments, and make sure all necessary documentation has been submitted.

One of our biggest priorities right now is ensuring that all Quarter 1 work samples and grades are submitted. These are essential components of our program and help us document student learning and academic progress. Please take some time to review your student's coursework, submit any work samples and grades, and reach out to your advisor if you have questions or need assistance. As we move into Quarter 2, we encourage families to work with their students to establish good routines, stay engaged in their courses, and address any academic concerns early.

We also want to remind families to continue submitting their OLS reimbursement requests. To help avoid delays in processing, please make sure you have completed the reimbursement form in its entirety and included all required documentation. This includes receipts and a redacted credit card statement showing the corresponding purchases. Please remember to remove or cover sensitive financial information before submitting your statement. Taking a few extra minutes to double-check your paperwork helps our staff process reimbursements more efficiently and reduces the need for follow-up requests.

As we begin Quarter 2, I encourage everyone to keep the lines of communication open with our teachers, advisors, and staff. We are here to support your family, and working together makes a tremendous difference in helping students succeed. Whether your student had a fantastic first quarter or faced a few challenges along the way, a new quarter provides an opportunity to set goals, make improvements, and continue moving forward.

Thank you again for being part of the AKChoice community and for the time and effort you put into your students' education. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to another great quarter!

Be sure to take a look below at our upcoming events and important reminders. Have a wonderful start to Quarter 2!

See Something, Say Something – Looking Out for Each Other

At AKChoice, we want everyone to feel safe, welcomed, and supported. One of the best ways we can make that happen is by looking out for each other and speaking up when something doesn't seem right.

You've probably heard the phrase "See Something, Say Something." While that includes serious safety concerns like weapons, threats, or dangerous situations, it's also about the smaller things we might notice every day.

Maybe you see someone being bullied online, hear a classmate making hurtful comments, or notice a friend who seems unusually quiet, sad, or withdrawn. Maybe someone says something that makes you worry about their well-being. These are all things worth speaking up about.

We want to remind our students and families that you don't have to wait until something becomes a big problem to say something. If you're worried about someone, reach out to a teacher, advisor, counselor, or another trusted adult. You don't need to know exactly what's going on or have all the answers. Sometimes just letting someone know there's a concern can make a big difference.

And remember, speaking up isn't about getting someone in trouble. It's about making sure everyone is safe and that students who may be struggling get the support they need.

If you see something that worries you, please say something. Whether it's a safety concern, bullying, or simply a classmate who doesn't seem like themselves, we would much rather hear about it than have someone feel like they're facing something alone.

Thank you for helping make AKChoice a place where everyone feels safe, supported, and connected. A little kindness and the willingness to speak up can go a long way!
