FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Families,
We are off to a great start to the second semester! The first two weeks have been focused on re-establishing routines, expectations, and classroom procedures to set students up for success. As we move forward, instruction will continue to build on first-semester learning while introducing new concepts and challenges.
As we begin the second semester, our focus is on consistency, engagement, and continued academic growth. Families can help by encouraging regular attendance, reinforcing school expectations at home, and staying connected with teachers. Thank you for your continued support—strong routines, attendance, and communication truly make a difference!
Please plan ahead for next week:
-
Monday, January 19: No school in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day
-
Friday, January 23: Students will attend school. Students who are present may wear jeans with a uniform shirt.
Re-enrollment Continues until January 31st
Life School re-enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year is in progress. With the 4-day school week calendar, we are experiencing increased interest in enrollment. If you have not done so already, please log in here to your Life School SchoolMint account and re-enroll your child for next year before the end of the month.

The Texas Education Agency offers Parent Guides to help families understand what children are learning in the early grades. These guides provide tips and conversation starters to make supporting learning at home easier and more engaging.
Support Life League at Life School
Life School is excited to launch Life League, (formally known as Special Olympics), an initiative supporting our Special Education department by raising both funds and awareness for inclusive athletics and student opportunities. Life League helps ensure our students of all abilities can participate, grow, and thrive through meaningful programs designed just for them.
Donate Snacks:
If you are able to donate snacks, we would greatly appreciate your support. To allow time for planning and organization, all snack donations are needed by Wednesday, February 5. Please label donations "Life League" and have them brought to the front office. Every donation—big or small—helps make this day meaningful for our students. Click here to sign up to donate snacks.
Thank you for partnering with us to support Life League!
Families can support Life League in two more ways:
Donate to directly support Special Education programs at Life School here: https://www.cognitoforms.com/LifeSchool1/LifeSchoolSpecialEducationLifeLeagueDonation2025
Purchase a Life League shirt to show school spirit while giving back : https://link.edgepilot.com/s/bd81243d/Ll0DWMB9ZUyLXzw-zJMzuQ?u=https://stores.inksoft.com/lif047
Every donation and shirt purchase makes a real impact on our students and helps us continue building a community where everyone belongs. Thank you for supporting our Life School students and champions.

All cash transactions will be rounded up to the nearest dollar, and the difference will automatically be donated to the Share the Fair program, which helps provide books for students at our school who need assistance purchasing new ones.
To make shopping even easier, we encourage all families to set up an eWallet for their student. With eWallet, students can shop the Book Fair without the need to bring cash.

Bzzzzz… January is Thyroid Awareness & National Blood Donor Month! 🐝
Did you know your thyroid is like your body’s thermostat? This little gland in your neck helps control your heart rate, how fast your body burns energy, your mood, growth, and even body temperature—keeping your “body's home” running smoothly!
Blood donation is super important, too! Sometimes people need extra blood because of accidents, surgeries, or illness. You might see blood drives at school or in your community. As you grow older, you might consider donating blood. Donating blood helps save lives—how cool is that?
Thank You for Your Support!
Thank you to everyone who has donated underwear and disinfectant wipes. We are still in need of more underwear and Ziploc bags. We truly appreciate your partnership—we could not do this without you!
Flu wants you!
As we are in the thick of germ season, please be mindful if your leader has been out with a confirmed case of flu and/or COVID. When possible, please call the clinic to let us know. This information is very helpful as we collect surveillance data and monitor illness trends.
Thank you for your help in keeping everyone informed and healthy.
Clinic Update
We love your little leaders! Due to the high volume of clinic visits, we are unable to call after every visit for each child. Please know we will always call for head injuries and for conditions that require exclusion from school, including:
Temperature of 100°F or higher. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning.
Undetermined rash anywhere on the body accompanied by fever.
Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Students must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning.
Red, draining eyes.
Intense itching with signs of secondary infection.
Open, draining lesions.
Jaundice.
Thank you for your continued partnership in caring for our little leaders!
Ways to Support Your Child’s Learning at Home
Academic Practice
-
Practice skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s with numbers over 120 (for example: 320, 322, 324, 326…).
-
Use flash cards for sight words, alphabet letters, and math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
-
Create vocabulary flash cards to reinforce new words in science and social studies.
-
Encourage your child to read daily—the more they read, the more they grow!
Tech Tools for Learning
-
Explore Progress Learning, BrainPOP, Khan Academy, IXL, Zearn, and ABCMouse for engaging online practice in all core subjects (and even Spanish!). These are great for reinforcing classroom concepts or providing extra review when a topic feels challenging.
Hands-On & Non-Tech Options
-
Try fun logic and reasoning games like Brain Cheeser to build spatial thinking skills.
-
Use the Accelerate Learning “Science at Home” activities to extend science learning through simple, hands-on experiments.
Make Learning Part of Everyday Life
-
Keep a small learning box in the car stocked with books, flash cards, and a journal for writing or drawing during downtime.
-
Encourage your child to write daily—stories, journal entries, or reflections about what they’ve learned.
The goal is to make learning engaging, consistent, and part of your family’s daily routine!
- Your registrar Ms. Irina Rodriguez is amazing! She went out of her way to help my son feel more at ease, when she observed he was in the hallway upset and having a rough morning. I’m so thankful that even on her busiest of days, she shows how much she cares! Thank you! She’s also terrific at keeping parents in the loop about all things enrollment and re-enrollment.
We would like to recognize LSRO staff for all the amazing things that they do each day for our students. If you have someone that you would like to brag about, please fill out this form and we will share the Shout Outs through the weekly Thursday Exchange.

DEVELOPING LEADERS AT LSRO
Weekly I Will Statements
During morning announcements, we will focus on one LifeLeader Attribute each week and learn what we need to do to develop each attribute so that we can become effective leaders in our school and in our community. We encourage students and families to memorize these statements together and talk about how the attribute is exhibited at home, school and work. We will share the I Will statement in the weekly newsletter and on our campus Facebook page. We look forward to hearing how students are exhibiting the attributes at school and home. Click here to view all 15 LifeLeader attributes.
LifeLeader School Rules - Growing Leaders of Character
LifeLeader School Rules - Growing Leaders of Character
During the first six weeks of school, we’re introducing our LifeLeader School Rules to help students grow as leaders of strong character. Every two weeks, we’ll focus on one of the three school rules, reinforcing positive behaviors that support our mission.
We invite you to partner with us by asking your child how they are demonstrating these school rules both at school and at home.
