Hear Ava Flores on Midday Classics with Norman Gilliland
On Friday, May 8th Ava Flores performed with the Lalita Woodwind Quintet on Wisconsin Public Radio's Midday Classics with Norman Gilliland. You can find an archived recording of the program here (Ava and the woodwind quintet start at about 27 minutes into the recording). Congratulations on a great effort and performance!
Memorial Day Service Performance (volunteers) - May 25
VFW Post 9362 hosts a Memorial Day service. We are looking for students to perform in a band to honor our soldiers, sailors, air forces, and marines. The service begins at 11:00 a.m. the VFW on May 25th. More details to follow.
East Band Concert & Senior Awards - May 28
We will host an awards banquet on May 28th at 6:00 p.m. to honor our graduating seniors and band letter winners in the Sun Prairie East band program. A spaghetti dinner will be provided, the Bernie Powers Band Foundation will present awards, and we will recognize all seniors. All band students and families are welcome and encouraged to join us.
The East Band Concert will take place on May 28th at 8:00 p.m. The woodwind quartet, percussion ensemble, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will perform. The concert will conclude with a performance of "The Water is Wide" by our seniors. Please join us for this celebration of our student musicians. They have grown tremendously this year and have so much of which to be proud. Way to go SP East band folks!
Band Uniform Return: May 28 after concert
Students will return band uniforms after the concert on May 28. All uniforms will be dry cleaned over the summer. Please bring a change of "street cloths" with you to the concert. Dressing rooms will be available after the concert for students to change and turn in uniforms.
School Owned Instruments Return May 28/Reissue June 9
All school owned instruments will be returned to East High School on Thursday, May 28 at the East band concert. Brass instruments will be ultrasonically cleaned. All instruments will be inspected for any summer maintenance needs. Instruments in need of maintenance will be sent for summer maintenance.
School owned instruments for summer issue will be ready for students to take home on Monday, June 8.
