Information for Families
Our routine safety drills and training are part of our commitment to do everything possible to keep our students and staff safe. During a lockdown drill, all students and staff are moved inside classrooms or other buildings and they secure the room by locking the door, turning off the lights, silencing phones, and remaining as silent as possible. Once the school administration has determined that the school is locked down appropriately, we move to a lockout status and teachers discuss with students what they can do if there were ever an active threat on campus. TVUSD's Safety & Security Department implements a comprehensive array of safety measures and conducts regular drills to ensure the preparedness of students, staff, and teachers. By integrating protocols and frequent training exercises, the department proactively addresses potential emergencies and enhances the overall safety climate within the district. These initiatives include detailed evacuation plans, lockdown procedures, and emergency response drills, all designed to foster a secure learning environment and ensure that everyone is well-prepared to respond effectively in the face of any crisis. Through these dedicated efforts, TVUSD prioritizes the well-being of its school community and reinforces a culture of safety and vigilance.
