GJPS Preschool Weekly Update

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! My name is Missy Grimmett and I am the Coordinator of our preschool program. I am thrilled to be a part of your students preschool experience this school year.

I have two kids, Ina who is in second grade and Hoben who will be in Kindergarten this year. I love coffee, eating at Rooster's, strawberry scones and most importantly spending time with my family.

I will be sharing important information and updates with you throughout the school year through weekly newsletters.

Sessions

AM Session (3-4 year olds)- 8:45-11:30 am

PM Session (4-5 year olds- must be 4 by August 1, 2025)- 12:30-3:15 pm

Goshen Lane Arrival & Dismissal

Clark Hall Arrival & Dismissal

Your child will be getting a color-coded wrist band and a car/bus tag. Please do NOT cut this off your child's backpack. This assists our staff with arrival and dismissal procedures.

Your child will be getting color-coded cards with numbers that you will be required to bring each day to pick your child up. We will be checking these cards daily, so please remember to bring them!

Infinite Campus/ Instructional Fees

Instructional Fees are $17.50. Payment can be made through Infinite Campus parent portal, cash, check or money order.

• Cash should be exact change.

• Checks should be made payable to Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools and returned to the preschool secretary, Mary Ann Stevens. Please write your child's name and building in the memo portion of your check.

An open house will be provided to our families ahead of time to meet our staff and see our facilities. Please plan on bringing any forms that need to be submitted during open house or on your students first day of school.

Please limit the number of visitors that come during open house and staggered start to help with spacing/parking concerns.

Your family should have received a staggered start date for your student through your personalized email on one of the following staggered start days August 18th-August 19th. Please send your student on their assigned staggered start date ONLY. All preschoolers will start a regular schedule beginning August 21, 2025.

Transportation will continue to be provided on staggered start dates for students with disabilities that require special transportation as a related service.

For any students that will be riding the bus, families can download the app to see where the child is or where the bus is in their route.

Please find the attached survey that will assist our preschool staff in gaining information about your families needs. If you choose to complete it electronically, please complete it online below by clicking the yellow button. A paper copy of the survey will be sent home with your child in the upcoming weeks with an option to OPT out of the survey.

Our preschool will be using Talking Points to message/communicate with your family. I will be posting messages through Talking Points and sending it through School Messenger as a second form of communication. Your family will not need to sign up for this. If you have students in multiple grade levels, this communication platform will be used district-wide to help centralize communication.

Our preschool licensing rules require us to have an updated medical statement on each student after EACH annual exam. The medical statement form is attached below. Take this form to your child's yearly exam to have completed by their pediatrician. If you need a form sent home, please let us know and we would be happy to print and send it home!

Forms will be sent home next week for returning families to indicate if your child's medical statement is expired, will be expiring soon, or we do not have on file.
