🌷 Theme for the Year: Bloom & Belong 🌷 🌷 Theme for the Year: Bloom & Belong 🌷

As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, we're excited to share our school-wide theme: "Bloom & Belong." This theme reflects our commitment to creating a school where every student, family, and staff member feels valued, connected, and empowered to grow. We believe that when children know they belong, they gain the confidence to bloom into their very best selves—academically, socially, and emotionally. Here's what that looks like at Collins:

🌸 Blooming Through Learning
Every child has unique strengths and endless potential. This year, we'll continue providing engaging, meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and perseverance. As students discover new skills and overcome challenges, they'll have opportunities to bloom in ways that celebrate their individual growth.

💛 Belonging Starts with Relationships
A sense of belonging is the foundation for success. We are committed to creating classrooms where every student feels welcomed, respected, and seen. Through kindness, teamwork, and meaningful connections, we'll build a school culture where everyone knows they have an important place in our Collins family.

🌱 Growing Together as a Community
Our school thrives when we work together. Families, staff, and community partners each play an important role in helping our students flourish. Throughout the year, we'll provide opportunities to stay connected through family events, volunteer opportunities, PTO, our Community Partnership program, and regular communication. Together, we can help every child bloom.

🌼 Helping Every Child Bloom
Growth looks different for every student, and we celebrate every step along the way. Whether it's mastering a new skill, showing kindness to a friend, reaching a personal goal, or trying something new, we'll recognize the many ways our students bloom throughout the year.

🌺 A Place Where Everyone Belongs
At Collins, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and celebrated. Our goal is to create an environment where students are encouraged to be themselves, take risks, learn from mistakes, and know they are an important part of something bigger. When students feel they belong, they are free to bloom.

We can't wait to see all the wonderful ways our students, staff, and families will Bloom & Belong this year. Thank you for being such an important part of our Collins family—we're looking forward to an incredible year together!

Dismissal Information 🚌🚗🚲🚶 Dismissal Information 🚌🚗🚲🚶

We will begin dismissal 15 minutes early the first 3 days of school. Please be patient as we get our Cobras home safely! 🙂Our dismissal procedures are designed with both efficiency and student safety in mind. We’ve worked hard to create a system that gets everyone where they need to go smoothly and securely. It’s important that parents understand how the process works so we can keep things running safely and on time every day. Be sure to become familiar with all dismissal procedures in the event that your child's dismissal changes at any point in the year. Thanks for helping us make dismissal a success for everyone!

Order of Dismissal:

  • Car rider first 6 flights will be dismissed at 4:05PM.
  • Bikers will be released at 4:05PM, followed by Walkers.
  • Car dismissal will continue until process is completed.
  • Buses are dismissed from the back of the school as they arrive.

Walkers/Bikers

Students walking or biking home will exit the building in the direction of where they will walk to go home.

  • Bikers will be dismissed first, then when all bike racks are clear, walkers will be dismissed.
  • Students walking/biking down Shadowbend towards Lake Woodlands will exit near the bike racks on the 6th Grade side of the building.
  • Students walking/biking towards Panther Creek will exit at the back of the building near the bike racks in the back of the school to cross Gosling with the crossing guard.
  • Students walking/biking towards Research Forest will exit on the 5th Grade side of the building bike racks.
  • Both the YMCA and Kroger shopping center businesses have asked us not to use their parking lots. Our car rider line is efficient and normally takes about 20 minutes or less.

Car Riders

To pick up your car rider, you must have their Car Rider sign with their student ID number visible on the windshield of your car. A staff member in a safety vest will begin walking down the car line to communicate the order of our car riders to another staff member and students in the building. This is how children know which cones to meet at for your car. Please see the map and photos below to understand how to enter and exit the car line to make the process as efficient as possible. If your child misses their flight of cars, you will wait for them at the 5th Grade bike rack.

  • Cars will only be allowed to enter the car rider line from Shadowbend (coming from Lake Woodlands) by making a right hand turn into the driveway.
  • We will have 7 cones in front of the building. Students will meet you at your cone and load the car.
  • We will have a staff member at the front of cone 1. The flight of 7 cars will not leave until all 7 cars have been safely loaded. If your student misses their cone, you will wait for them at the 5th grade bike rack in front of cone 1.
  • Cars leaving Collins will only be allowed to make a right hand turn to exit towards Research Forest.
  • Any car that has not had their car sign student ID number entered by a Collins Staff Member/cuts in line will be required to exit the drive and make their way to the end of the car line.
  • If a car cuts in line, please let someone on duty know.
  • Our campus officer will have a stop sign and will stop traffic to allow cars to make a RIGHT turn only to exit the car line.
  • Students not picked up by 4:30 pm will be escorted to the front office and a parent will need to park and come inside to sign them out.

BUSES

Please be at your bus stop at least 10 to 15 minutes early in the morning the first few weeks of school. During the first few weeks of the school year in the afternoon, buses will run later than normal. We are the “third tier” and the last pick up for buses. Since the elementary bus run is before ours, and Kindergarten students must have an adult at the bus stop to pick up the child, our buses will run later. Not only will this make the bus arrive to Collins late, but it can make for longer bus rides home. Thank you in advance for your patience!

What Bus Do I Ride?

  1. Click the Find Bus Route.
  2. Click the Student Eligibility button and enter your child’s Student ID number and date of birth.

If you did not register for transportation during your child’s initial school registration, you can register for transportation online. You will need your child’s I.D. Number and Date of Birth to complete the process. It may take up to five (5) business days to process depending on the volume of request. Once in effect, you can find your child’s new route by clicking the “Find Bus Route” Link.

SMART Tags

Bus riders MUST use their SMART tag while getting on and off the bus every day! Download the SMART Tag Parent App to track your child to and from school.

RAINY DAY DISMISSAL

Dismissal in Bad Weather

In the event of inclement or severe weather, be sure to check your email for updates on whether or not we will have rainy day dismissal.

If there is extreme weather (wind, hail, lightning, extreme rain) predicted to occur at 4:05 PM we will not allow students to walk or bike ride home - parents will be required to only use the car line.

Every parent should have a car rider sign, and it should be visible in the car rider line. If you are picking up additional students due to rainy day dismissal, please write each student’s ID number as large as possible on a piece of paper. Families without the car rider signs and without the student ID slows the process down substantially.

We will do our best to make a "Rainy Day Dismissal" decision by 3:45PM to alert families of the change. Please have a "Plan B" established with your child so they will know how they are getting home when a "Rainy Day Dismissal" is called.
