Our students had AMAZING GROWTH this year on our Idaho Standards Achievement Tests (ISATS) and our Idaho Reading Indicator tests! Take a look at the these fabulous graphs that show our growth as a school!
K-3rd Idaho Reading Indicator Results
Hawthorne had the highest growth of any school in D91!
Best IRI result in 5 years!
ISAT (Idaho State Achievement Test) Results
Every grade level (4th-6th) had better results than last year!
Highlights include:
- 7.6% increase in Math Proficiency in grades 3-6 which was the HIGHEST percent increase in D91
- We had the highest percentage of students who grew at least one point on their MATH ISAT from last year in the entire DISTRICT!!! (GROWTH MATTERS!)
- Every grade level decreased their number of non-proficient students (seen by a smaller amount of RED on every graph).
***3rd grade does not have comparison data because it is their first year taking the ISAT.

TECH TALK
- Screen Time and Limits
- Be very AWARE and CAREFUL about how much screen time our students have this summer.
- Too much screen time can affect sleep, focus, and play.
- Families can set healthy limits by choosing tech-free times, like during meals, and before bedtime.
- When you are in the car, talk about what they are seeing around them - this is a great way to build vocabulary and geographical awareness (they need to know where things are in town and where they live).
- Messaging in Games:
- Games like Minecraft and Roblox let players message each other, which can be fun but sometimes risky.
- We have had students in our school who were contacted by people they did not know and who were exposed to inappropriate content in messages.
- Never share personal information (like your name, school, or address) and tell a trusted adult if someone makes you uncomfortable.
- Videos/YouTube Autoplay
- Autoplay can keep videos playing without stopping, which sometimes leads to content thatβs not made for kids.
- Watching together and using YouTube Kids can help keep video time safe and age-appropriate.
- Watch movies together and talk about them. Movies are longer which helps kids build stamina for learning
