Spotlight on STEAM and Biz Tech

Program Spotlight August 2026

Spotlight on STEAMand Biz TechProgram Spotlight August 2026

The Program Spotlight is a series of informal interviews with different groups of educators at Legacy Academy. Our teachers and paras have implemented the Capturing Kids’ Hearts process of classroom management and if you attend an event at the school, you will likely hear references to our "good things" activity from this program. We appreciated the time that these educators have taken during their planning time to answer a few questions about the "good things" that are happening in their programs.

This month's spotlight is shining on Legacy's STEAM and Biz Tech programs led by Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Garramone and Andrei Teudean. Be on the lookout for more videos this fall!

*We caught our teachers during a break for this interview and we apologize for the sound quality. Closed captioning is available if needed.

A Foundation Worth Building On A Foundation Worth Building On

Elementary STEAM includes hands-on science lessons and learning about building materials, planning and process implementation. Middle school STEAM students are able to build on that knowledge with advanced projects. Biz Tech students are learning about broadcasting, coding and 3D printing. We are looking forward to having them make some videos for us in the future!

Learning By Doing Learning By Doing

There were many favorite projects from last year. Biz Tech students designed sail cars and printed them using Legacy's 3D printers. These cars were designed for a minimum distance and students enjoyed putting them to the test. Middle school STEAM students were able to build and fly miniature drones and learned about how flight works in the real world. Elementary STEAM students were introduced to geology by learning about geodes. This excitement led to them finding pet rocks and using their imaginations to create stories about them.

Engaging Projects for 2026-2027 Engaging Projects for 2026-2027

Mr. Teudean is looking forward to his multimedia and broadcasting students creating news productions- and so are we! Students in middle school STEAM will build small catapults as they learn about contraptions and Mr. G is excited to build a life-size catapult. Mrs. McCarthy is eagerly anticipating the new schedule which gives her the opportunity to spend more time with students to reach new goals in her STEAM class.

Excitement for 2026/2027
