New Grocery Outlet Makes Donation to Strongsville City Schools
Last week, Grocery Outlet opened in Strongsville. Their grand opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a check presentation to Strongsville City Schools. Grocery Outlet is committed to partnering with our District and supporting SCS teachers, staff, and students. THANK YOU to Store Manager Patrick Senecal and Grocery Outlet - welcome to our community!
Issue 5 (SCS Bond Issue) Defeated
A message from SCS Superintendent Dr. Cameron Ryba:
Although we shared a press release this week regarding the bond issue results, I wanted to reach out personally to thank everyone who took the time to become informed and engage in the conversation about the current and future facility needs for SCS. I sincerely appreciate the care and consideration so many in our community showed toward the future of our schools.
If you had the opportunity to look at the results, Issue 5 reached a passing margin based on in-person voting, but the gap created by the absentee ballots was not overcome and the issue was defeated.
While Issue 5 failed, the needs of our District remain unchanged. Our preschool and elementary buildings will continue to age, roofs and boilers will continue to need replacement, and safety and space concerns will continue to grow over time. The financial and educational implications of this issue’s defeat are real.
Even while facing these ongoing challenges, we remain committed to providing the best possible educational experience and learning environment for our students in the most efficient and effective way possible.
Following an outcome like this, it is important to take time to reflect before discussing future plans or next steps. We intend to take that time thoughtfully. In the coming weeks and months, I will continue to keep you informed as the Board of Education and District administration evaluate our options and continue conversations about the future needs of our schools and our next steps.
Thank you again for your engagement, support, and commitment to Strongsville City Schools.

Mustang Spotlight - Karen McManamon, Cafeteria Manager at Surrarrer
Karen McManamon has worked in a variety of cafeteria roles in our District for 19 years. Karen has worked at Zellers Elementary, Strongsville High School, Center Middle School, and is currently the Cafeteria Manager at Surrarrer Elementary.
“I love what I do! What’s the best part of working in Surrarrer’s cafeteria? Of course, it’s the kids! From serving up lunch to sharing smiles, every day is full of energy and FUN. We keep things running smooth, clean, and organized - but the real reward is seeing happy faces and full trays of delicious and nutritious food. There’s nothing better than being a part of all of our Surrarrer kids’ school days!”
Thank you Karen for providing our students at Surrarrer with the very best breakfast and lunch options! #ModelMustang

Kinsner 3rd Grade Teacher Publishes Interactive Book for Young Readers
Congratulations to Kinsner Elementary 3rd Grade Teacher Mrs. Meredith Wise for publishing her debut middle grade chapter book, Wild Wonders: Yellowstone. The story is inspired by her family vacations and childhood memories of visiting national parks and follows siblings Marie and Miles on a magical scavenger hunt through Yellowstone National Park. It blends real park facts with mystery, adventure, and a touch of enchantment. The book reached number one on Amazon in both the Children’s Sibling and Children’s Intermediate categories during its debut week in November.
Along with the chapter book, there is a companion coloring book featuring illustrations from the story, and a free teacher companion pack with over 50 pages of classroom ready resources, including discussion questions, writing prompts, and literacy activities designed to support instruction and engagement.
Mrs. Wise grew up in Strongsville and attended Strongsville City Schools from K-12. She has taught in our District for the past 21 years. “Strongsville has played a huge role in shaping who I am, both personally and professionally, and it means so much to continue working in the community where I was raised,” said Mrs. Wise.
