📚 End of Semester Information
-
This year, Dewey Middle School transitioned away from traditional semester tests and moved to benchmark testing to better support student learning. Unlike one high-stakes exam at the end of the semester, benchmark assessments provide multiple checkpoints throughout the year. This allows teachers to identify strengths and gaps earlier, adjust instruction in real time, and ensure students receive the support they need before moving on. Benchmark testing gives a more accurate picture of student progress, reduces stress, and aligns with our goal of continuous, meaningful learning rather than a single cumulative test. Therefore, there are no semester test exemptions.
-
Attendance is critical—students who exceed 8 absences per semester may receive “No Credit.”
Thank you for helping us reinforce consistent attendance as we finish strong.
