Principal Message
Dear Families,
It was wonderful seeing so many of you at Parent-Teacher conferences yesterday and today. We value your partnership and ongoing communication that supports our students' success.
Thank you to our PTA and parent community for stocking the lounge with treats and for a delicious Chipotle dinner yesterday evening. We appreciate your kindness and generosity!
Have a wonderful weekend! We are looking forward to some fun celebrations next week!
Sincerely,
Erin, Julia, and the OMS Staff
Attendance Reminders
If your child will be absent, please report the absence online or call the office before 9:05 a.m.
Partial day absences can also be submitted online—just send a handwritten note to the teacher so they’re aware.
For last-minute early pickups, call the office so we can notify the teacher.
If there’s a change in after-school pickup plans, please send a handwritten note to the teacher.
If plans change during the school day, call the office and we’ll relay the message.
We ask for handwritten notes because we don't always see emails in time and if there is a guest teacher they will not have the information they need.
Thank you for your help!
PE - GYM SHOES - Required
Our traveling gymnastics unit is here! For the next two weeks students will be participating in a gymnastics unit. All students MUST have gym shoes/sneakers in order to participate. Shoes will remain on and need to be secured to the foot. Students not wearing the appropriate footwear will be unable to participate.
*If your family needs assistance in obtaining appropriate gym shoes, please email Ms. Davis at edavis@sd25.org.
Walking to School from Olive/Douglas
We ask families who walk to school from the east not to cross the entrance/exit to our parking lot during arrival and dismissal. Instead, we ask families to turn left at the driveway entrance and walk along the loading zone sidewalk. We realized this was not included in our FAQ document that we share at the begining of the year.
Drivers:
Please use extra caution as you enter and exit our lot paying attention to families and students who may be walking near that area.
AHML Bookmobile!
Recently, second graders had an opportunity to tour the Arlington Heights Library Bookmobile when it made a special visit to OMS! Students were excited to step aboard the traveling library and check out entertaining picture books, colorful nonfiction books, and new fiction series. The visit sparked enthusiasm for reading and reminded students that they can access these materials at the public library as well as on the bookmobile. We hope you have an opportunity to visit when it is on Olive Street!
Multicultural Night is a GO!
Save the Date - Thursday, November 6th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
We’re excited to share families answered our plea and that our 3rd Annual Multicultural Night is happening on Thursday, November 6th, from 6:00–7:30 p.m.!
It will be a more low-key evening than in years past, with each room hosting smaller, family-friendly activities and simple cultural experiences to enjoy together.
Thanks to the generosity of our PTA, students will also receive individual passports where they can write interesting facts they learn and color a flag to represent each country they explore.
Come join us as we celebrate the many cultures that make our OMS community so special!

-
6:10 p.m. – Mrs. Molnar, Mrs. Kelly, and Mrs. Bagg’s classes
