Shining Stars: Celebrating Our April Student Leaders
Emily Luna
I would like to nominate Emily Luna for Student of the Month. Emily is always very kind and attentive. She always participates in class appropriately including specials. She is a great example of a student leader. I often see Emily being respectful, responsible, safe and kind.
Nominated by: Mrs. Enright
Liam Smith
My nominee for Student of the Month is Liam Smith. Liam is a hard worker in class. When classmates need help Liam is the first to jump up and offer to help. Liam is focused on his schoolwork, remembers school expectations, and leads by example. Liam speaks respectfully to adults and classmates. Liam does what is right even when no one is looking. He is a friend to all students and a great leader in our classroom.
Nominated by: Mrs. Kilburn
Millie Pritchett
I would like to nominate Millie Pritchett. She is a leader by focusing on her work and is attentive during lessons. She is willing to help when needed and is a pleasure to have in class. She is willing to work with any student during group work. If she has work that is unfinished from class she is responsible and completes it at home and turns it in the next morning. Millie has many traits of a great leader.
Nominated by: Mrs. Coleman
Ryan End of the Year Extravaganza: Awards, Picnic Lunch & Field Day Events
May 15th (May 21st Rain Date)
Ryan Elementary Families,
We are thrilled to extend an invitation to the Ryan Elementary End of the Year Extravaganza happening on Wednesday, May 15th, at the high school football field.
The event kicks off with our award ceremony at 10:30 am, followed by the Ryan Elementary Picnic, and concludes with our exciting Field Day event. Kona Ice and a Bounce house will also be on-site for the students, which is made possible by our amazing Bronson Elementary PTO. We are sending home a letter with the details about the day.
To make it convenient for families, we have organized all activities for a single day, so you won't have to take multiple days off work. We encourage you to bring your lunch to enjoy with your students. Alternatively, adult meals can be purchased for $5.50, which includes a hot dog, baked beans, potato salad, apples, carrots, and frozen sherbet. Kindly return the form, at the bottom of the invitation that was sent home, with cash or check to Mrs. Mullins in the office by May 6th if you plan to purchase a lunch.
Given the condition of our track, we kindly request that foot traffic on the track be limited to preserve it for our home practices.
In case of rain, we have a backup date set for Tuesday, May 21st, details to follow if necessary.
We hope to see you all there for a day of fun and celebration!
Classroom Placement Information
Ryan Elementary Families,
We have reached the point in our school year that we are beginning to plan for next year’s classroom placements. Our first priority must be to maximize the learning of all of our students. It is critical that we make all classrooms as balanced as possible, using a broad range of indicators. As a District, teacher requests are discouraged and we cannot guarantee they will be granted, because they have the potential to create unbalanced classrooms and reduce the effectiveness of student growth. We also can’t guarantee which teachers will be teaching at each grade level.
Instead, we welcome you to contact us with any information that you wish to share about your child’s specific learning needs to inform our placement decisions. It is our goal to maximize success for all children. If you have specific concerns about your child’s education, please feel free to contact us via email or SeeSaw, send a note with your child, or call the school to discuss your concerns. This information will be taken into consideration upon placing students into next year’s classrooms.
Our staff is working very hard to ensure that we are using best practice strategies, following our curriculum to guarantee continuity among classrooms and grade levels, and building and sustaining relationships with our students. With our intervention/extension blocks (WIN), we strive to provide instruction at each child’s instructional level. We are confident that we have great teachers here and we, as a building, will make sure that we are delivering exactly what your child needs and quality instruction, in every single classroom.
Please know that classroom placements will be sent to families in the mail in early July.
Please feel free to reach out to us with specific concerns as we work together to care for your child. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve your family.
Summer School Invitations
We are planning to offer a 12 day project based summer school! We have limited slots available. If you have received an invitation, we are asking that you to indicate now if you would like your child or children to attend. We are working out the specific details, but would like to offer breakfast, lunch, and busing. Summer school will be held from July 15-August 1, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Please complete and return the form below by May 3, 2024.
Field Trip Letters
All letters have been sent home, please pay attention to dates and necessary forms required for attendance. Also, the PTO is purchasing every student a custom Viking T-Shirt for the Field Trip.

Lead By Example Celebrations
By Bailey Miller
On April 5th, the students of Ryan Elementary participated in the first Viking Venture of the school year. A building goal of 2,000 tickets earned was set in order to receive this Lead By Example reward. Students earned “golden tickets” which were in recognition for demonstrating being responsible, respectful, safe, or kind. The afternoon was fun, ranging from outdoor options to indoor activities that included STEM opportunities. Also, we were joined by members of the Bronson Jr/Sr High School Varsity Club, who helped out with the many outdoor activities. Recently, Ryan students were able to reach another 2,000 ticket goal and had the pleasure of taping Mrs.Bucklin to the gym wall during each grade level lunch (pictures below.)
Michigan State Police Internet Safety
By Sawyer Miller
On April 3rd, Ryan 5th Graders were given the opportunity to learn about internet safety and cyberbullying. A representative from the Michigan State Police, Trooper Z. Feighner, presented a PowerPoint on how kids can be safe while using social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat. The presentation also touched on cyberbullying its effects and consequences and what to do if being targeted. She also shared how to keep from being accused of cyberbullying. Since there were so many questions, Trooper Feighner will be back in May to talk about the 0K2SAY program.
