HMS Hiller Heads-Up
All the news from Hopkinton Middle School
Note from the Principal
Dear Parents,
I am reaching out in this Hiller Heads up to ask for your help regarding smart watches. As you know, students who choose to bring a cell phone to school are expected to power off their phone at the start of the school day. This helps eliminate many distractions during the school day. Many students are now using smartwatches, and I ask that you please help us by reinforcing our messaging that they may only use the smart watch for the purpose of telling time, not for texting or other electronic communications. Please reach out to the main office should you need to reach your student during the school day. Thank you for your assistance.
Enjoy your long weekend!
Matt Lefebvre

Grade 7 Update from the Nurses
Attention Grade Seven Parent/Guardian,
We will be conducting our annual hearing and vision screenings of all grade seven students from Tuesday October 24-Thursday October 26, 2024. If your child wears glasses or contacts, it is important for them to have them at school that day as they will be screened with their corrective eye-wear.
Some students may not pass their initial screenings. They will be re-screened again in two weeks. You will only be contacted if further evaluation of your child is needed.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Kelly Burke & Julie Thompson
HMS FUNDRAISER
Our Fall Fundraiser is back! This year we have again partnered with Charleston Wrap, who we think you will find has AMAZING merchandise. Hopkinton Middle School earns a profit on every purchase made that helps us fund student activities throughout the year, including our grade level evening events and field trips.
6th graders have fundraiser packets in their backpacks today! 7th and 8th grade parents who attended last week’s Back to School night should already have a packet. If you did not get one and want one, just have your child ask their homeroom teacher. The packet isn’t necessary to make a purchase, you can find a link to the website below!
We hope you will find this to be a really easy fundraiser. Everything can be ordered online and shipped directly to you! It’s also very easy to register as an HMS seller - which you must do in order for us to earn from your sales.
Follow these easy steps:
Go to registercw.com on either your phone or computer
Enter the HMS code 22361 and your cell phone number.
You will get a text confirming that you want to register. Click on that link to finish your registration.
Enter your child’s homeroom teacher’s last name.
Add a photo if you wish
You can add people directly, OR copy the selling link to send to your friends and family via text or email - or you can shop for yourself!
If you have any questions about the fundraiser or issues registering, please contact Becky Abate at rabate@hopkinton.k12.ma.us.
Soles4Souls Shoe Drive
So far our community has donated nearly 3,000 pairs of shoes for Ukrainian refugees. The need is still great and the Russo-Ukrainian War is ongoing. There are collection boxes at every Hopkinton school and the Hopkinton Public Library.
Soles4Souls is accepting new or gently used shoe donations of any kind, and any size. Shoes should be bound together, if possible. Soles4Souls accepts single shoes for amputees as well. (There are many.) Shoes may have small blemishes that will be professionally mended.
Evan Fitzpatrick, a HHS Junior, is a Global Ambassador for Soles4Souls, one of the top-rated non-profits in the country. Soles4Souls is focused on making a measurable impact in our world providing shoes and textiles directly to those in need. In addition to their work in developing nations and with homelessness in our country, Soles4Souls is actively providing disaster relief to Ukrainian refugees. The Hopkinton Administration and Hopkinton Principals are proud to support Evan in this endeavor.
