District Update - January 30
Superintendent's Message
Midview Families and Community,
Happy New Year and welcome to the halfway point of the school year—it's hard to believe how quickly the calendar keeps moving. January has certainly been a month to remember! Winter definitely made its presence known, and our recent snow and cold days likely threw a few routines off at home and at school.
Deciding whether to hold school on snowy or extremely cold days is never easy. There are many factors to consider, and often there isn’t a perfect answer, but we always strive to do what’s safest and best for our students, staff, and families. We deeply appreciate your patience, flexibility, and the thoughtful choices you make as we all work together to keep students safe and supported during winter weather. Your partnership and trust mean a great deal to us.
The good news? We are in great shape. Many years ago, Midview Local Schools transitioned from counting school days to school hours, and our current calendar intentionally builds in flexibility for situations just like this. At this point in the year, we still have several days banked before any consideration would need to be given to making up time at the end of the school year. In short—no need to worry about snow days coming back to haunt us later.
While we’ve only missed a small handful of instructional days, our staff has taken time to review pacing and instruction and make thoughtful adjustments where needed. Our teachers do an outstanding job being responsive and intentional, and I am confident they will ensure students continue to progress right where they should be. Our students have already made exceptional growth this year, and that momentum will continue.
As we reach this midpoint, I’m proud of the work happening across our district. There is a lot to celebrate, and even more to look forward to as we move into the second half of the school year.
Thank you for your continued support.
Once A Middie, Always A Middie
